19. full-time pimp. no kids that i'll admit to, single, just a few hoes to keep fed and dressed. $100-200k/ year, depending on how hard i pimp the hoes. just got done paying off my lime green suit bills and decided to go against the norm of caddillacs and benzes.

sorry, just had to considering i'm pretty f*cked up right now. made me and my buddies laugh.

What I find interesting is the people with huge salaries driving TLs. I see the numbers for some people and think to myself: "They could easily afford a car twice the price of a TL".

Very interesting indeed. Seems most TL owners are fairly conservative in their spending. That's good. Unlike one of my programmers who makes much less than I and just bought a BMW 3 series. He must be living from paycheque to paycheque. No wonder he keeps hitting me up for a raise. Ah well, this year's salary budget is going to me... hahaha!

Before my 98 RL I had a 1996 MBZ S320 LWB...I got it 'cause it was an "S-Class", was stupid about money and regretted it from about 2 months after buying it. It was a pile...got a lotta complements (mostly because of 18" Monoblocks), but it was back to the dealer for problem after problem...everything from transmission "slippage" to dash cluster squeaks. The alternator kacked 570 miles out of warranty and I had to shell out $950 for a new one plus install. And I put a lot of miles on cars (30K/yr) so the car was only about 18-19 months old. I had a problem with the window regulator in my RL 7,000 out of warranty (again the car was less than 2 years old) and they fixed it for free anyway...plus gave me new wiper blades...acted like "What window problem ". Made me an Acura lifer. I've heard of Lexus doing the same kinds of things (although my g/f's IS is a complete pile). Before the S320 I had a 93 Lincoln MKVIII (first car after college) then a 95 Continental...both complete trash, Ford had to buy back the Continental after just over a year because of all the problems (including 3 dead tranny's and 2 head gasket failures).

I like how MBZs look, and how BMW's USED TO look, and the newer MBZs look like they have improved fit and finish, but if I were to spend that kinda money again ($60-$90K), I'd buy an LS430 and have money left over.

Actually, the ownership seems somewhat bi-modally distributed - you have the young, just starting out professional who is not married with kids, and for whom the chance to have a really decent car is a priority. Then you have a set of the older, more settled buyer, for whom $35K is a smaller fraction of annual income.

In my case, besides the car, I have two children who will be entering college - the first in about 16 months. And there is retirement savings as a priority. Yes, while theoretically I can "afford" a BMW or Mercedes, there is no way I can justify spending that much on something that depreciates to near zero in a decade or so.

I am a staff photographer for Government agency and make about 50Kyr sometimes more if the freelance goes nuts. I drove a 04 audi A4 1.8 and got rid of it cause it had so many things go bad. I refinanced my house saving $$$$ to help on the payment. As far as buying a car goes..don't do it if you can't afford it!! How can you enjoy driving a nice car if you are always worried about paying for it and its upkeep. good luck!

I am a 62 year old attorney. Traded a Subaru WRX on the TL. I'm a bit of a vehicle nut so it is one of a number of vehicles that I own at any given time...

AA has a great mix of luxury cars so you get to see new models all the time but the TL's looks really stood out from all the 3/5's and A4/6's.

We're dink's with only the house and car as debt so it's pretty affordable for us.

22, PC/Console gaming company, the $ ammount I make is very private info. But, I'm probably going to put about 15K down on the car, maybe buy outright, I still haven't decided. But I surely want to have the car paid-off and sold before I'm out of warranty.

May get extended warranty as well. Its all up in the air at the moment. I'm just trying to locate my car and get an out-the-door price this week.

Well it's your own fault for getting an education instead of going out there and earning a living in some vacuous, lucrative, but socially irrelevant line of work.

Not to be rude - but why is that ''very private'' ? Everyone else here is posting what they make, financial background, etc....I don't get it - why do people get so touchy about that kinda thing? Heck, we don't even know who you really are....why not tell us what you make?
