What I find interesting is the people with huge salaries driving TLs. I see the numbers for some people and think to myself: "They could easily afford a car twice the price of a TL".
Very interesting indeed. Seems most TL owners are fairly conservative in their spending. That's good. Unlike one of my programmers who makes much less than I and just bought a BMW 3 series. He must be living from paycheque to paycheque. No wonder he keeps hitting me up for a raise. Ah well, this year's salary budget is going to me... hahaha!

I like how MBZs look, and how BMW's USED TO look, and the newer MBZs look like they have improved fit and finish, but if I were to spend that kinda money again ($60-$90K), I'd buy an LS430 and have money left over.

Actually, the ownership seems somewhat bi-modally distributed - you have the young, just starting out professional who is not married with kids, and for whom the chance to have a really decent car is a priority. Then you have a set of the older, more settled buyer, for whom $35K is a smaller fraction of annual income.
In my case, besides the car, I have two children who will be entering college - the first in about 16 months. And there is retirement savings as a priority. Yes, while theoretically I can "afford" a BMW or Mercedes, there is no way I can justify spending that much on something that depreciates to near zero in a decade or so.

I am a staff photographer for Government agency and make about 50Kyr sometimes more if the freelance goes nuts. I drove a 04 audi A4 1.8 and got rid of it cause it had so many things go bad. I refinanced my house saving $$$$ to help on the payment. As far as buying a car goes..don't do it if you can't afford it!! How can you enjoy driving a nice car if you are always worried about paying for it and its upkeep. good luck!

Waiting for TL fixes and possible AWD. Want to see the RL also before I defiintely go with the TL

AA has a great mix of luxury cars so you get to see new models all the time but the TL's looks really stood out from all the 3/5's and A4/6's.
We're dink's with only the house and car as debt so it's pretty affordable for us.

22, PC/Console gaming company, the $ ammount I make is very private info. But, I'm probably going to put about 15K down on the car, maybe buy outright, I still haven't decided. But I surely want to have the car paid-off and sold before I'm out of warranty.
May get extended warranty as well. Its all up in the air at the moment. I'm just trying to locate my car and get an out-the-door price this week.
