What does this thread have to do with a TL, or any vehicle at all?

Since majority people here own a TL or are at least seriously considering it, it's an interesting study of average incomes of those in the market for a TL. I'd bet in the end the average income would be significantly higher than if it would be if people were in the market for a Toyota Corolla.

Im the original creator of the poll, and NO, im not in the IRS (heheh) and no, i dont work for honda or acura

Im a web marketing manager, for a huge tech company (nothing to do with autos) and this type of stuff really interests me, you'll see other polls from me in the future, considering how responsive people have been so far.

What interests me is the similarities of the Acura TL owners, in previous threads (this same question was asked) where users stated their income and job type.

Many who answered are in tech, making 60-100k, and are early 30s. That's very interesting!

You also have to take into consideration the cost of living and stuff like that. I moved down here to NC from Northern VA/DC area. Going from making $60k up there to making $55k down here is a HUGE increase for me since the mortgage is just about cut in half!

I have to agree with CurvBal33. I moved from Central Mass to Columbus, Ohio and took a small pay cut from 75k to 65k but Have been able to save soOOOoo much more money because the cost of living here is so much more realistic than that of the Boston-taxed state of Mass.

(just so you know... 75k in Boston is equivilent to making 50k here in Ohio) Not to mention, living in Mass used to cost me close to 32% income tax compared to only around 27%-28% here in Ohio.

yeah... cost of living is different froms state to state...

making 45k in CA you consider just a little above poverty line... but making 45k in SC... you can own a nice house, a nice car like TL and also a nice boat.

I certainly don't make enough for the amount of hours I put in.....but then, those of us who truly teach didn't enter the profession for the money.

And to answer the question "well, then, how does a teacher afford a TL?".....try this: I have 30 years in the classroom.....am hovering right around the top tier on the salary schedule, have a doctoral degree, get 2 stipends for extra work & duties........AND have a second job. Trust me...if school boards had to pay us overtime....they could NEVER afford us.

To EluSiOn;

I love my native state of Virginia.. just not overly fond of the "Northern" tip of the beast. But I REALLY love South Carolina and can't wait to get down there for good when I'm through with the work-a-day world. What's your opinion of Florence (a possible future nesting place for me and the wife)?

In many parts of california, (bay area esp) you need 120k income to buy a medium home (3 bed 2 bath)

mlslistings.com will show you what homes cost.... check out the sq footage and AGE of these things too...

Hey Jerky;

I've heard that SF and San Jose is VERY high in the housing market. The average cost of a single family home in Northern Virginia is $463,000 (source 1+ months ago.. WTOP radio news). What would a 3200 square foot, two-story with basement and garage command in SF?

It's all nuts.

Use the link that I sent above...

I know that my friend bought a 700 sq foot ONE bedroom condo in SF (brand new near pac bell, called south beach) for 480,000

she may have a parking spot, may not.

Ok, i looked it up, it really ranges, as I can't tell how old or what area... but a 3/2 in SF county..
the Median (middle price) is 700k
this is for a 50 year old home

A nice home, in a nice neighborhood, in a nice area in the bay area starts at 800k

nice home=3/2 single family home, newer or rebuilt
nice hood= nicer looking homes around it
nice area= not a ghetto

In SF - a cool Million and half (starting price), in Bay Area in general - may be $1,000,000
Don't believe me? On 19th Ave in SF, new TOWN houses (about 1200 sq. feet) before they were even built went for minimum $850,000 and were all sold out before first brick was laid down.

Florence is very close to lake city.. which has a honda plant there... i was raise in Temple Cit, Los Angeles California... went to SC for college and decided to stay. I am tried of 90 minute commute on Interstate 10 in LA on daily basis. I am enjoying the low tax rate here and low cost of living..

Florence is pretty far from anywhere except myrtle beach . I think Greenville is the best in SC... its 60 minute away from Atlanta GA and Charlotte NC. It got more business oppotunity there... SC has some good school like Clemson and also USC (the other USC) which its iMBA program rank #1 in the nation.

average house cost in SC goes 10k~ 20k and you get very good houses with 20k... like right on the lake. Its beatiful nice weather and believe it or not... no hurricane like FL..

To EluSiOn;

We've been going to South Carolina for vacations for 36 seasons.. Myrtle Beach and its surrounds, so I am VERY familiar with that part of the state. In fact, Murrells Inlet is one of my favorite places for possible retirement. Also Litchfield Beach and Beaufort except for the Marine base being right next to Beaufort.

Just a different world down there. My kinda place. I'm so Southern I bleed grey.

well I'm 27 and I barely make over 60K a year and I made sure I saved enough to put money down on a place that I can call my own rather than rent.. sick of renting! throwin money away! So took me a few years to save for 30K down on a small condo here I got for $289K in Sonoma County which appraises now at $410K But during these 2-3 years I have done absolutely nothing but eat Mac And cheese and speghetti. Only a couple vacation trips that cost me $1k tops the whole trip just so I can save money for this TL! I was just about to get the 2003 TL but I decided to save more money for bigger down and get the 04 instead (20K down rather than 10K down that is).. THANK GOD I waited! I had no idea the 04 would be a completely new design that I loved even more!
So now I have no spending money really and I have my TL. I paid full MSRP (39.9K out the door), I'm happy, I dont' care about money. I just want my TL .. and I continue to eat my Mac and cheese... that is, until I MAKE MORE MONEY!! (I'm workin at it )..

At least you know when a hurricane is coming. I've lived in Fl for 20yrs and this is the first time I have experienced a real hurricane. The problem with the experience is I feel like veteran after this year. 3 hurricanes have passed directly over my house. A total of 2 weeks without power!
And you thought CA's black-outs were bad.
