What to use to debadge?
I was wondering what you guys used to take off the "acura" and the "tl" sign on the car. Does one product work better than the other? Should i be worried of any residue left over after i take the sign off?

Use some hot water... Pour behind the emblems to try to soak up the adhesive behind it.
Then get dental floss, preferably mint, then start flossing the emblems off starting from the corners. As you start to make your way through the emblem, slightly lift it up and pour more hot water behind the area you just lifted. Do not lift up too much as you might break it off--or rip some paint. Continue with this method.
Most of the residue should be off if you do it that way, at least it was for me.
Once the emblems are off.... get 'Goo Gone' at your local Crappy Tire, or elsewhere, and squirt some over the residue. Let it sit for a short while. Then take your cloth and rub it off.
If you are picky:
Once the residue is off... get some water and soap. Clean the areas where the emblems once where. To get that perfect blend--wax the area where the emblems once were.

The Goo Gone can be eliminated ... I'm still not sure if that stuff is 100% clear coat safe.
Once the emblems are off warm the residual adhesive with a hair dry just a bit then roll it off with your finger.
Then wipe the area down with Rubbing Alcohol to clean it up .. Any scraping be it with plastic tooles etc is going to marr the surface.
Then a bit of a polish or cleaner wax in the area.

Mint dental floss! I'll try that. If when you are all done you can still see where your emblem was (ghosting) you could wet sand with 2000 grit sandpaper and a water / soap solution. This will replicate the 1000's of car washes, acid rain, scuffs, sunshine, rubbing, buffing, etc that have taken place on your car finish everywhere but where your emblem was. Chances are it looks pristine compared to the rest. Follow up with a mild buffing compound to buff out any scratches (I know, it sounds stupid to scratch your finish, and then polish it next), and then wax.

I used fishing line to remove the emblems. Then I used some goo gone to get all the sticky tape off that remained from he badges. I still had a "ghost outline" which was very noticable. I Then finished it off with Turtle Bug and Tar Removal (It's in a dark green spray bottle). Let the bug removal sit for a few minutes, then use lots of elbow greese to rub the rest off. G/L

I heated the emblems up with a heat gun, slowly peeled the emblems of so most of the adhesive came off with them. Any trace of adhesive I heated up again and and kind of rolled it off. I then put some goo gone to get and sticky contaniments off and then used 3M rubbing compund and then waxed. Looks like they were never there.

My wifes blow dryer to heat up the emblems, pulled them slowly off taking much of the adhesive with them, kept the heat on to roll off the remaining adhesive with my finger and then hit it with some WD-40 on a microfiber towel to take off any remaining adhesive or wax outline. No wet sanding, no buffing, no nothing. Can't even tell they were there. Car is 18 months old CBP.
Used the same procedure 4 years ago with my Subaru Legacy GT and same results. Works slick...

Just debadged mine. Used a hair-dryer and fingers to remove the emblems and adhesive. There was quite a bit of ghosting so I used Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover to handle that. It looks great!

- Hair dryer to soften the adhesive.
- Fishing line to remove the emblems
- Bug n Tar Remover for removing the leftover adhesive (It's all I had at the time)
also. let's see some pics of your rear ends!

I did mine in winter, so I used a hair dryer to warm everything up, dental floss to debadge, and Goof Off to remove any residue (bug and tar remove didn't work). Came out clean, no residue, no ghost image.

I did mine this morning and do not see any residue/ghosting. There was quite a bit of it before I used the Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover. I recommended getting that stuff and polishing it out yourself. The trick is to spray it on and let it sit for a few minutes. I had to do it 3 times but it is all gone.
