I'd say 33100 should be what you shoot for before taxes.

That would be a TL with navi, non-aspec. You could add in their protection package and get them to deep discount it.

Perhaps someone from your demographic can chime in with exact numbers.

Depending on how you look at the magic they worked on my sales order I paid aroun $33.2k for 06 TL with navi and deck lid spoiler, mud guards and wheel locks. They added $500 to my 04TL non-navi trade to get me that price, so they just move the numbers around to make their deal look good to their numbers guy.
Car invoices for $32.2 then usually around $600 destination fee so invoice is around $32.8, depending on where you are the dealers may be more or less flexible. In GA I have found them to be more flexible lately, but still wanting to make around $500 over invoice.

Invoice is $32,840ish.... knowing this pay an addidional $1500-2000 profit and you make everyone happy. That way you pay roughly $34,500 and the salesperson doesnt starve... Not like most consumers care but it makes a difference.

Trust me... I sell them.

are you located in Ocala or Orlando? Skyy. Im located in a little town called Leesburg that is jammed right between Ocala and Orlando. Im planning on buying a TL this year. When do you think would be the best time to buy? Nov.? Dec.? I think you would have more accurate answers since you are located in central florida too. Thanx in advance.

I paid $35587 out the door

I just purchased mine for $32719 plus tax and license for a total of $35587 out the door (no options) from a California Bay Area dealer. It had 3 miles on it when I bought it. I will be adding a RonJon body kit (may use the A Spec rear bumper), A Spec suspension, RonJon wheels, deck lid spoiler, StopTech brakes, rear sway bar, legal tints in CA.

You guys with these outragiously low prices need to take out your order and look at it a little closer.

You have to add the "dealer fees" and "document fees" onto the price you THINK you paid for the car. Because they are profit booster inventions of the dealer that he has pulled out of thin air.

No dealer in his right mind will sell a hot car like a navi TL for less than his invoice (not the same as his cost, BTW).

If you think you got a new TL with navi for less than $33,000, please scan your signed order and surprise all of us and I will

If you got it for anywhere close to $33,000... especially in California where they have not been budging on the window sticker.... you can be proud of the deal.

Also, have a look at your interest rate, extended warranty, dealer options, all of which add profit to the sale. IOW, if you buy all those over-priced extras, the dealer may take less of a deal on the car per se.

And, no doubt, the best deals were obtained a week ago or less when the dealers were trying to set records and meet quotas for month end/year end sales.

A quick way to tell what you actually paid for the car (without trade in) is to divide your tax rate into the amount of tax. For example, if the sales tax was $2,000 and your sales tax rate is 6%, then 2000/.06 = $33,333.

Of couse, if you had a trade in, it's not so easy to calculate what you paid because the dealer can juggle those numbers to get whatever bottom line number he wants. If he says he will sell you the car for $31,000 and then gives you $14,000 for a car that he values at $16,000, then you are still paying $33,000 for the car but not knowing (and perhaps not caring).

$36,500 out the door last week. Detroit metro area. 06 with Navi.

I'm pretty sure it was $33,125 base. It was a few hundred for the new plate. I kept my old car.

$1500-$2500 in profit, it shows that you sell them. This much profit for what, a 5 minute test drive and then wasting hours of my time in the negotiation and dela closing stages.
A reasonable yet agressive deal would be invoice + $500 especially considering there are hold backs, everyone still makes money and the buyer gets a good deal.If the car industry would just figure out how to take the haggle out of buying they woudl have much happier customers and may sell a few more cars. As I knew what I wanted when I traded up from 04 to 06 TL this time I did most of the deal on the phone then less than an hour in the delaership to do a quick test drive and final negotiation and anoher 30-45 min in the business office closing the deal.

Best price I found over the past 2 weeks. I spammed all dealers from Seattle to So Cal. Some wouldn't participate or wanted me to go to them last with the best price I got (nice try).

Thank you again for your Internet purchase request.

Our current special pricing for the 2006 TL with Navigation is $32,795*.

This already includes the destination charge as well as wheel locks, paint
polish and splash guards at no extra charge.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks and I look forward to
hearing from you.

Please note that the fine print says "plus dealer document fees". This renders the quote you got as meaningless until you determine how much those fees are and add them on to the price mentioned. I think you will learn that they are about $495 which is typical. Add that to the $32,800 and you are back to $33,300 which is still a decent price. If you can manage to get it for less, you're doing very well.

Good luck.

That's a decent price including all fees, tax, tag, and title. That brings you down to about $33,500 depending on your tax rate. :thumbs up:

Tell your parents they did good.

You're right - when I said I bought ‘06 TL, 5AT w/Navi for $32400, I didn't count "documentation fee" - $110. I also bought splashguards for $179. All-weather mats came free. So my total with all the above (without taxes) was $32689 - that's the number on the doted line on my contract.

So.... $32,472 +tax, tag, and title. That's an exceptional price -especially if it wasn't a demo and had navi. Very good bargaining.

Our experience here shows that the best deals are in the NY, NJ, MD, and northern VA dealerships.

The worst have been in California.

Another excellent deal. Was at the end of the month or year? That's the best time to cut a good deal when they're trying to make a marker.

Should have left the car details:

2006 TL AT with NAVI (Black on Ebony)

This was a brand new car, it had 4 miles when I drove it off the lot.

Thanks for the confirmation of the good price. I will share this with the wife and it will make her very happy.

First Law of Economics

I think supply must be catching up with demand.

These sort of deals were not easy to find when I bought mine.

I paid just over $33,000 (after much hardball bargaining) for my 2004 TL 5A w/navi, splash guards, trunk tray, hand-painted gold pin stripe, locking lug nuts. The outside artist charged the dealer $200. I know that because I contacted the artist and sent him to the dealer saying, "This is the guy I want to do it."

I also got 3.25% financing for 60 months. I was going to pay cash but I wasn't going to sell stocks if I could get the money at that rate!

So anyone that gets a better price than that gets a tip of my hat.

The difference is closer to $2,000 and includes more than just Navi... You also get voice command of nearly every function.

I suppose the dealer cost is about $17-1800. Expect to pay between that and $2k.
