Question What product to use for waxing of new TL

I have no idea what's best. My car is about 2 weeks old and I want to do something to the paint. Please let me know what works best for you. Thanks

I highly recommend the Zaino polish system.

Check out the testimonials section at
http://www.zainostore.com
and the pictures section also.

Also, vffr1 wrote an excellent thread on Zaino recently, it's available in the "Common TL Topics and Questions" section here:
http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74255

Zaino is incredibly easy to keep looking awesome once you've applied it. The Z-6 spray after a wash makes the car look "just waxed" in about 5 minutes.

Good luck!

I'm a proponent of the NXT polish from Meguiar's. The jury's still out in terms of whether NXT is better than Zaino, but either product will do you just fine. You can buy NXT at any local auto store, Wal Mart, or online.

NXT so far is working great, topped if off with #16 to take it up a notch.

Used NXT on the wheels and what a difference

I'm very happy with NXT. Easy to apply and looks great. For $15 at WalMart, it's at least worth a shot.

Extemely happy with Zaino, and it's proving to last even with 2 car washes a week..

I use Zaino and you can see pics of my car here

However, I have to say Meguiar's NXT color looks nicer! but they don't last as long as zaino coats! My zaino still shines after rain and nxt doesnt. (speak from personal experience) I wash my cars twice a week (one just quick wash which takes less than 10 min) and with zaino, my NBP looks just polished everytime.

I'm planning to use the Tech Wax about every two months. I hit it with the spray wax once a week after washing - if I have time. It still looks good if I skip it, but when I follow the wash up with the spray wax it looks perfect.

Zaino all the way.BTW, remember to take the nozzle off the hose after you finished getting the soap off ,and let the end pour over the car.

Really pulls most of the water off the car, in sheets!

No

1) NXT Generation Car Wash (My area has hard water, so this helps)
2) Quick Clay system
3) NXT Tech Wax (apply then when dry, re-apply while 1st coat is still on)
4) Admire it for a couple of days
5) Re-wash w/NXT Wash
6) Apply #16 wax

You know, I gotta tell you - until I tried this (hose trick) I would have thought people were crazy, but it really does make a difference!

I just bought the NXT wash, Tech wax and the spray wax. Car is only a couple weeks old so I washed it up (finally it stopped raining!) and just had time to hit it with the Spray wax - looks awesome, could not appreciate it fully over the weekend with the cloudy overcast. Really anxious to use the tech wax and then hit it again with the spray wax.
Bought me some Micro Fibers towels - AWESOME... thanks guys.

Alternative voice here. Try Wolfgang's poly sealant. Like Zaino, it's it's a polymer sealant rather than a wax so it will last longer than typical carnuba waxes.

Consensus on the autopia forums (forum dedicated to detailers) is that Wolfgang has a 'deeper', wetter look than Zaino. Use Zaino if you want 'shine'.

Another advantage of Wolfgang's... it's goes on and comes off *very* easily. Cure time is just the time it takes you to coat the car.

I'm a fan of both Z and Wolfgang's but after stripping, prepping, and using Wolfgang on my buddy's black '03 Civic (which previously had Zaino), I have to say the Autopia forums are right. Not quite as shiny but a very rich, deep, wet look that rivals carnuba wax.

Didn't see much improvement after 3 layers though.

Haven't tried it on my O4 TL though since it has a DG coating (which I'm actually pretty happy with) and it's Silver (diifficult to give depth to silver since it's so reflective.)

Use the local car wash! I traded in a '92 Legend for my '04 TL. For the last 10 years of its llife, the Legend was bathed regularly in the self-service car wash and, except for multiple chips (mainly from impatient tailgaiting) and a few road scars, the finish looked remarkably good.

Another vote for NXT from a former Z user. NXT wash, 2 coats NXT wax, then finish w/ #16. (I've done the wash & 2 coats, going to wash again this week & use the #16). I also bought the spray wax, which I'll use every 2-3 weeks.

The car beads water off for 6-months after application (through the whole winter)! I apply once every 2 months over summer but it only takes me 30 minutes to apply and take off (easiest stuff in the world to use).
