What is this plug on the oil pump

What is this plug on the oil pump?

Mine seems to be leaking oil. It also seems to be unscrewed further than other J series pumps (I googled images).

What's all this then?

I'm thinking its just a port plug.

I was gonna just remove, Hondabond it, and tighten it.

Just making sure there's not like....springs and shims back there that need to be preloaded to some spec.

If anyone knows, LMK.

This is from the 07-08 TL Helms and it does not even specify it on the OP overhaul.

Yeah, I couldn't find any information on it in manuals or part lists either.

Looks like I'm gonna pretend I know its just a port cap. Next question is...why tf is it loose?

Thanks for the help!

It's loose because it needs to be tightened

Thanks for the video confirming that its just a plug.

It turns out mine isn't loose. There's no good reason for it to have been loose (which is why it wasnt?)

It seemed like the oil was coming from there, but maybe it wasn't. I just recently replaced the VTEC solenoid gaskets and O rings. So its probs my oil pump itself that's seeping

Its actually for a 4G TL. But that forum isn't as active as this one. Car has low miles so I'm kinda annoyed its got leaks.

Ah well. I'll fix it at some point.

This is a lesson learned for me, the main thing is not to repeat my mistakes. I changed the timing belt, then resealed the oil pan due to a misdiagnosis, and then resealed the oil pump. It's good that I did all this for myself, otherwise it would be very expensive. And I recommend unscrewing the plugs, anointing them with thread lock sealant and tightening them so that they have never been unscrewed.

You need to remove and reseal the oil pump using new hondabond. It's not the plugs leaking.

Yep. I figured that out in my previous post. I'm not looking forward to that
