The car is excellent condition with 24,000 miles. I've owned the car since 4/15/04.

I have 26 payments remaining on a 48 month lease. Just logged into the AHFC web site and it shows the payoff is $29,300.

How much can I get for this car from the dealer? Or is it possible to sell to private party?

Obviously, I am looking for any possible way to minimize the amount I would owe American Honda Finanance to end this lease.

I know it's not a good situation but what can I do to minimize the damage.

My goal is to get out of the TL lease and BUY a used RL. I'll probably pay 1/2 of the car in cash if not more.

Please let me know your thoughts on what I can do here. Thanks.

I traded a 2004 TL auto/navi with 19,000 miles (leased 10/2003) for complete lease buy-out.

NOTE that AHFC includes tax, so $29,300 = price+tax (or so I was told). My buy-out was ~$27.5k but the dealer paid only $25k and change.

I got a 36-month lease (12k miles/year) on a 2005 RL for $570/mo + tax. Purchase price was $42,100.
