Hey guys with the nice weather weve been having ive decided to clean my engine and sand some parts to be paint but ive notice this unplugged cable out of nowhere, im not sure if i accidently unplug it or it was always that way. Can you guys tell me what it is for? Thx plz no comment needed for the rust/dirt i bought the car that way and ive been trying since then to maintain and restore it.
Is there actually a wire within the wire loom? An amplifier cord would be a good guess.
Is there any kind of aftermarket switch in your cabin?
Hey there is indeed a grey cable but i couldnt see it since it was so far inside the tube. Its grey and the end seem to have been cut. Any ideas what it is for and how to repair/change it? And also where does it go?? ty

Pretty much only you can answer this, because it's not factory. None of us have it.
Its driving me crazy everything on the car is working fine i do have a remote starter and the audio is good. Not sure what it could be i wonder how much the stealership will quote me the find whats its used for.
Dude, just follow the cord to figure out what it connects to (which is likely nothing anymore). Bringing it to the dealership would be a waste of time and money.

if you have a remote start and you car starts with the hood up (which it should not do) it's probably your hood pin switch. Easy way to test it is to start your car with the remote start then ground that wire out, it should stop the car. If it won't start with the hood up then it's not that but my money is on hood pin switch for remote start.

Just yank it REAL hard. I bet a balloon comes out of the trunk.
Connect it to positive battery connection and look if something changed. If nothing happens connect it to negative. If still nothing just pull it really hard to see what's on the other end.
You could also try "smoke test" it. You will need extension cord and one wire. Connect cord plug to your house wall socket, on other side push this gray wire inside one hole, put short wire to the other hole and touch engine with it. Then you look for smoke, that makes it easier to find electronic component that was connected to it.

Check out where this other similar one is going and see if there's something unplugged there. Or maybe that purple one in the circle was to replace the grey one?
But like others said, if it aint broke dont fix it... So if all your systems are working fine, just cap and stow it away.

Take it to a local car audio shop, they should be able to trace it down in minutes.
I had a quick look at my car and looked like i had a very similar one going to the negative of the battery... Do you have two cables connected to your battery negative?

We got a winner over here haha i was changing all my rusted bolts for new ones and painting the engine cover and strut bar. After removing the bottom right bolt(driver side) there was a small connector under it which was cut down as well. Im actually glad it was remove i often need to check the engine while it runs with the hood up! Thx anyway for all the replies and infos.
