What the heck?

What the heck?
I apologize in advance if this sounds stupid. I have been driving around with a temp. permit from NJ stuck to the rear windshield. I am finally getting the permanent license plate tomorrow (MD) and removed the temp permit out of excitement (idiot!!). The damn super self-adhesive junk left ugly residues all over the window, including on the copper wires that keep the window fog free. The last thing I want to do is damaging the wires. What do you recommend to use to remove the glue stuff?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It's hard to believe dealers still put tape right over the wires. (Or maybe it isn't...) They should be putting tape only on the top and bottom edge of the permit, and making sure none of that tape touches a grid line when they affix the temp. plate. Some dealer know that and have been doing it forever.

Try Goo Gone, it's really good. Use a little on a Q-tip on a very small area to make sure it doesn't damage anything, then go ahead and finish the job.

Make sure to try it in a out of the way place first - those wires are covered in clear plastic and you don't want to disolve that with the solvent. Methanol might be a less aggressive solvent.
