What good is the clear bra????
So i just walked out to my car, and as I approach it, I see a white spot on my fender, above the drivers side head light. I really didn't think much of it because it had just rained here and my TL is dirty from it (NBP so we get to see ALL of the dirt). Well as I get right up next to it, I see that its a rock chip. Its a pretty good size too, but the f'd up part is it had to have been one hell of a rock, because it broke the clear bra and chipped the paint! WTF..now is there a way I can get 3M to fix the clear bra and the paint chip, or is it all out of my pocket?

Yes, if it's proven then they should fix it, but I'm not sure. My clearbra company told me that their material is stong enough to prevent rocks going through the film. I have not experienced that yet, but I do have some rock damage only on the surface of the clear bra. I will replace that bumper peice sometime in the future.
IMO, it's the best option you can buy for a new car.

Yeah, it's going to happen. Just stay far away or give enough space from cars in front of you, that's the best way to avoid debris from hitting your car.

I know what you mean. I've got a 3M clear bra and recently had rock hit the front hood. A very small piece of the clear bra peeled back. You can hardly notice but I'm calling my installer to see if he can replace the whole front hood or at least fix it.

Shit happens!
After 3 1/2 years, I finally took a road trip out of state and actually had to drive on a gravel road to get to my friend's new log home in North Carolina. (I almost parked at the bottom of the hill and called a cab! But, they don't have cabs there.)
Somewhere, I got a nick in the 3M clear bra on the front edge of the hood. It didn't go through to the paint but it is a permanent nick in the bra.
I plan on attempting to touch it up with some clear nail polish.
If that doesn't work to my satisfaction, I can always have that piece replaced. I'm guessing it would run about $100. It's the easiest piece to install as there are no fancy, compound curves.... just the small dips on each side. After watching the installer do it, I think I could even do that one myself. Then again.....

My plan is to drive Stella for about 3 years, repaint the front end, and then clearbra it. I would have to repaint to get it now, and there are not enough for me to do that yet.

"Work" pays for air plus rental car whenever I travel. But, they would pay me $ .50 a mile to use the TL. I just don't like to take it when I can roll up miles on a rental. Last weeks was a 2008 Chrysler Aspen with a 4.7L V8.... but that's for another thread.
The clear bra has paid for itself. I'm happy with it. I had to polish out a scratch a silly gurl put on my NBP rear door by leaning up against it with her chrome studded belt. She also had her stinky feet all over my dash... and not in a good way. Stick a fork in that beyotch!

If your driving ON a rock paved road how would a rock hit your hood if there is not another car infront of you, not to mention your wheels are behind and under your hood.
I think that blemish may be from another occurance.

I'm sure I got the chip in the bra on the Interstate. Prolly one of those nasty dump trucks spewing it's water and gravel out the back.

I had a clearbra on mine and i had a nasty rubber gash mark on the side of the front bumper from hitting something in my garage. When I took it off it was like a brand new bumper again. The clearbra definentaly payed off!

My 2007 NBP TL w/7k miles is getting beat up as well. A question for the group: even with several small chips/dings (nothing huge yet) does it make sense to invest in a clearbra now? I hate to see my car continue to get ruined. Has anyone tried using a conventional vinyl bra (i.e. the Acura OEM bra)? I'm not a big fan of those things but I think I'd rather have my car wear one vs. have the front end continue to get beat up.

I'd rather have paint chips than mount a vinyl bra on my car, in my opinion, vinyl bras are

I love Neillo Acura of Sacramento!!!
Well just a little update. So I took my TL-S in for its A1 service, and I told them that I wasn't happy that i had gotten a chip in the clear bra and paint. They called up the company that installs the clear bra for them, and they are replacing that piece that goes on the fender, as well as fixing some bubbles.

At least yours is only a chip. After driving back from a road trip and inspecting my car, I noticed that something took a dime sized CHUNK out of my bumper near the fog lights. When I went in for a closer look, I noticed that it was stuck to the clear bra, and that was the only reason why it was still on there.

Do a search. Clear bra is a clear film (3M) that covers the front fender, 1/3 of the hood, the entire front bumper, and the side view mirrors. Clear bra protects the finish from bugs and road debris such as small rocks.

Good for you! If they can't fix those bubbles, they might have to replace that peice as well.
