What do you think about 04 tl?

Hey guys my wife bought 03 tl a year ago. And I found out the 09 the tl is totally redesign. So, when the 09 here my wife car it's going to be 2 gen older.
I like to be stay like 1 style or gen older. That's why I'm looking to trade her car with 04 or 05 tl. Are theres any problem or recall on the 3rd gen tl?
Thanks...

there were a few recalls (windshield washer motor and power steering line), but acura has fixed them without a problem, I have an 04 TL and love it, there are a few issues that have since been improved, but im simply in love with my car and would recommend it to all.

the 05 or 06 TL will be your best bet. the 04's had a few small issues that were fixed with the 05+ such as butt prints. The 06 has had the addition of the tire pressure monitor system. The benefit of the 05 over the 06 is that the 05 does NOT have engine programming where power is limited (to reduce torque steer) in the first two gears.

I have an 04 and have not had any issues with it at all. Yes there are butt prints but it's not really that noticeable unless you know to look for it. I had never noticed it myself until I read about it on AZ.

I assume the 04 also doesn't have that, right? And anyways I think that can be disabled by turning VSA off.

the 04 does not have the power control progamming. This cannot be disabled, it will limit the motor's output in the first two gears to prevent torque steer.

One thing I wonder is did they stiffen the steering a bit on the newer TLs? I feel like the steering on the 04 TL is too "loose", if that makes sense. I just drove an 07 TSX loaner today and the steering felt perfect (a little tighter).

3rd gen TLs have this annoying rattling problem where certain parts of the interior rattles while driving. For me its near the passenger seat belt area and i have heard others have the rattling in their front decks and glove compartments. Annoys the heck out of me, but it may or may not be an issue with all 3G TLs.

My 05 rattles around the front driver window area. It's the plastic cover/frame on the inside of the door that presses up against the window.
I usually try to avoid the first model year of a new generation vehicle.

I don't think there is a car in the world that doesn't have at least some rattling as it gets older. My TL rattles less than any of my previous cars.

Then shouldn't the 06+ have a slower 0-60 time? But it doesn't as far as I know.

The 04 is ok generally speaking. They improved some things for the later models.

Absolutely not. The engine management system only reduces torque output when the steeering wheel is turned, and it does so incrementally, governed by sensors which monitor steering wheel position. It will limit torque in first between 13-27% and second gear by 0-10% Straight line acceleration is not affected.

damn...it. we didn't get the car. Can't afford it, cuz about $5000 upsidedown on the 03 tl. I guess we going to keep the car about a couple more years to make it even up, and get RL or infiniti. This sucks..., but o well
