TL CHROMETIDE

My friend just got an 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX. Just the plain IX, not MR, SE, or RS. So he has the 5 speed. Once he breaks the car in, we might run our cars. I'm driving a 2006 TL 6MT stock everything. Both cars are completely stock. I am the better driver. I'm just wondering what you guys think who would win from a digg and maybe a 30 mph roll. Thanks

An Evo IX accelerates as fast as a NSX. Even if the Evo's here in North America are a bit slower, I still think they are very fast. Stock vs stock, dig or roll, the Evo will win for sure unless the driver behind the wheel of the Evo really sucks. In fact, the Evo can easily do 0-60mph in less than 5 seconds and 1/4mile in 13 sec or less. The only difference between a dig and a roll is that you won't lose as much if you guys do a roll.

Some numbers:

TL: 258hp, ~3500lbs
Evo: ~286hp, ~3200lbs

You might have a very slim chance of winning if he doesn't rev up the engine before launching the car due to the turbo lag, but then again, I think that wouldn't help you much since the turbo lag has improved so much in the past already and the fact the TL is FWD won't give you much of an advantage when you launch the car.

you will win from kick...most likely from a dead stop...if you bog down the evo (dont launch high enough) it falls on its face...the evo has no power till full boost...from a kick the awd will be a lot of drag on the car...i have beat numerous evos on the interstate and one at the drag strip

I experienced running with a modded EVO from 80 to 120 when my car was stock. I got the jump on him, but he couldn't pull on me. I thought something was wrong with his car or something.

off the line (from a dead stop) the AWD will put the TL on least 3 car lengths............ the evo has no power until full boost but the AWD launch will put any FWD to shame

I never even knew there was a base model with a 5spd it must be very slow. 1 less gear and I bet they're all close-ratio gears so the top end on that car can't be that good.

i think the 6spd tl on a roll and only on a roll would have a chance...my fren in his 04 g35 6 spd was beatin on an evo both were stock with relatively good drivers...his cuzin had a 6spd tl and it felt like it pulled harded then his g...juss do it and see 4 urself..its its just for fun it wont hurt...
