30,000, plus NYC tax rate of 8.625%, a doc fee of like 125, and the usually DMV stuff.

33,500 is above MSRP for an AT/NON-NAV!

And, to make matters worse, they make many more automatic transmissions, so my guess is that if you are not careful you could get a relatively low vin# because AT/non-nav TLs have usually been on the dealer's lot the longest.

W/tax (8%), title, etc., you should not pay a dime about 34K for an automatic/non-nav (i.e. 31,500 for car & destination & goodies). But, do a search and you will find lots of previous posts about what people are paying!

$33,129 plus TTL for NAVI and 5AT here in Boston at Acura of Boston. Worked with Debbie Robertson for only about 30 minutes to get this price. It was special ordered and will be delivered mid May

$31649 (including splash guards, truck tray and wheels locks) plus tax, tag. 04 NBP with Quartz, 5AT, no navi. They had to bring it in from Greenville, SC. I live outside Atlanta. Apparently the color combo is hard to find down here.

I know in the SF Bay area, there is not much in the way of discounting. Out of the 3 Acura dealers I shopped at all quoted MSRP (33,195 - AT, Non-Navi), not including taxes, and dealer extras (e.g. Protection Package, Side Molding, etc.)

I paid MSRP, but couldn't be happier. The car is awesome!

any of you guys buy with all the body kit options? front/side/rear and deck lid spoiler for instance?

if i could get some prices for a 5AT/NAV with those add-ons, i would appreciate it.

prices in here look lower than i expected for the car. makes me feel less weary about spending more on the TL over a TSX

Quite envious of the prices people are getting outside of california... I paid $34,395 (see sig below for spec) and that was already a bargain at that time.

Love this thread!

5AT, Navi, pin stripe, splash guards, wheel locks, trunk tray $33,300. After I bought, another dealer emailed me offering any Acura w/o Navi for Invoice + $500 "dealer fee" (2 days only) and $500 + $500 dealer fee over invoice for Navi. That's $33,120 for a Navi when you do the math.

Dealer's inventories are building up and they're getting a little nervous. Supply is catching up with demand.

unless someone just bought the car with no trade-in..

its hard to tell what they really payed. I will say this..even if you have to travel a bit. Find a dealer with a high inventory that moves a lot of cars and wait to close to the end of the month. Maybe even the last day of the month...If you get something that is in inventory you will get much closer to invoice than you would normally. I was going to purchase a tsx instead of the tl and I had a dealer offer to sell me the car at invoice. Ask anyone who has ever shopped a tsx...thats unheard of.

Exclamation Don't buy into the myth of MSRP!

I agree with Silver. Find out what the dealer invoice is and realize that he makes an additional $1,000 on factory "holdback". Shop the last day or two at the end of the month. Get some Internet quotes from 3 or 4 dealers near you. If you have a figure in mind that you want to pay, offer your favored dealer $1,000 LESS THAN THAT when you're ready to buy. I stress: when you're ready to put down a deposit and sign the order, you're in a position of strength. Of course, they will freak and give you a dozen reasons why no one can do that. Then, let them pull you up SLOWLY, a hundred or so at a time towards your number as they come down. Take turns moving. Negotiate some dealer installed accessories: splash guards, pin stripe, trunk mat, wheel locks. AND ALWAYS make sure that the number you are discussing INCLUDES any dealer fees. You must tell them this and get an acknowledgement they understand. They love to pull that $500 or so out of the hat after you think you have a deal.

A fair price? 3-5% over invoice for a hot model like the TL. Invoice on a Navi is $32,102 including freight. Try to get it for $33,000 for a car in stock. That means: offer them $32,000 to start. Their first number is high; yours is low. You meet somewhere in the middle. Your starting number is just an invitation to the dance. They live to dance. Most important, don't say "no" for them. Let them say it. You might be surprised what they'll do. You have no clue as to what may be motivating them to sell you.

If you fall in love with a certain car, don't let them know it. Display an unemotional flexibility. Give them the impression that you love a good deal more than the car. Be straight forward, and, in the end, don't compromise for a color or equipment you don't want. Be prepared to sign when you get your price.

In my case, I violated my own rule and didn't start low enough. They took my deal with little haggling. I didn't even get turned over to a manager. It was too easy. My fault. :smackhead I think I could have saved another couple of hundred on my car which was the exact color I wanted and which was already on order from the factory.

When they tell you "We can't do that on a Navi," or "We can't do that on an ordered car," or "We can't do that on a 6MT"- just ignore them. Of course they can if they want to make a sale. They are just trying to leverage your lust for your new TL to get more profit. I heard all those and stuck with my guns. They did it.

BTW, I don't fault them for their tactics. It's just good business. In their shoes, you and I would do the same.

Not too far from your dealer! Woodfield Acura in Schaumburg. And I believe your dealer is Arlington Acura in Palatine... they gave me that price for an ebony one, but I went to woodfield because I went there first and they were not pushy at all.

xpditor42 offers great advice! I also recommend letting them know in subtle ways from the outset that you know what's up and have been gathering information on internet forums. A savvy "car consultant" will get the hint and should deal more easily. And, as xpditor suggests, if they don't meet your price, get them to make a firm quote, walk out and get internet quotes. My guess is that they won't let you get too far!

You are 3 days late to get the best deals. No-one is really anxious to cut deals at the beginning of the month, you may have to wait till the end of April to get teh best possible deal.

How willing will they be to deal if you have to order a car rather than take one off the lot?

$32,700 out-the-door price (waited patiently 2 months for delivery) for 2004 TL Redondo Red, A/T, NAVI, 18" wheels with Yokohama tires, wheel locks, rear wing (not spoiler), body-side moldings, rug mats, mud guards, block heater - includes all dealer, tax, license transfer, and other charges, included a $1,000 trade on my 1990 Legend L w/114000 miles. Think I got a pretty good deal. Wasn't the last day of the month, though.

Been doing business with that dealer for 17+ years. Other than saying it's a store in the NW suburbs of Chicago, prefer not to give the name.

Post Dealer Prices

I work for a dealership on the east coast. On your basic non-navi TL. Dealer invoice is $30,300. In most cases dont expect to get that good of a deal but some dealers in the philadelpha area are doing special internet discounts. So basicly if you go on thier website and submit a request for info....before going to the show room....they will contact you with a special fixed (non negotiable) internet price which in some cases can be as much as $200 under dealer invoice. Then you just goin in....pick out the one ya want and drive home.
They arent really advertising this cause if the guy that just bought before you knew that you were paying thousands less just for clickin a few buttons....theyed be mighty pissed.

I paid $2000 off MSRP for a Anthracite,ebony,6speed,navi, hi-perf. tires. The dealer also offered to run the sale(private) thru his books to show it as a trade saving me the sales tax on the money I got for my '02 TLS. They were very helpfull with assisting me in the sale of my old car, and inspected it and cleaned it up for the new owner.

Oops!! BIG OOOPS. That out-the-door price should have been $37,200 -- not $32,700 (still including all the goodies, taxes, license change, etc.). Boy, one little dyslexic typo and a fantastic deal becomes just (I hope) a very good deal!

BTW: that old 1990 Legend L w/114,094 miles for which they gave me $1,000 in trade is detailed and back on their lot with a sticker of $3,995. That's too much.

Sorry 'bout the typo. Hope it didn't ruin anyone's day (sort of like finding that the person in the seat next to you on the plane paid hundreds less than you did).

Mike
