Got it; you have no empirical evidence, only innuendo and anecdotal observations.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure, that I didn't magically become a snob seven weeks ago when I bought my USED BMW for less than I paid for my TL that I only sold three weeks ago. Are you starting to see how silly your line of argument is?

Bitter? Nahh I have friends in high places. Ohh I forgot to mention my friends brother is a NJSP trooper, here's how the typical story goes particulary on a weekend:

Report of reckless driver SB or NB on GSP, description of vehicle: BMW, Color: ANY # of occupants: Unknown

So, he'll sit between the median & sure enough 15 minutes later here comes the BMW in the left or right lane doing 90mph+, pull them over & out comes the rich, snobby attitude. "You can't give me a ticket! My dad is a lawyer, My dad is a doctor, blah blah blah"

Here's your WOOD.

Ohh no, you're BOTH right, I'll take your word any day over 2 well respected Police officers who EACH have 25+ years OTJ. Plus I guess I need glasses, apparantly I'm mistaking honda civics with fart cans for BMW's on the road.
Careful driving out there, those TL drivers have bent up rage.

I'm going to bow out for now. Lest anyone accuse me of "running away" - I'll be spending the next six hours driving half-way home from Salt Lake City. I've been on a road trip to visit my Dad's grave for the first time since I was here for his funeral nine years ago...perhaps the circumstances of my trip have made me a little more touchy.

@ other guy...how can a general stereo type that wasn't even directed to him (since he hadn't posted yet) as a personal attack? that is an asinine assumption. does he yell at Jeremy Clarkson through his TV when they say BMW drivers are snobs? i doubt so.

I'm almost speechless at this. The 22 year old thinks he has more "experience" than the 39 year old. You do know that the written media of the Internet makes it difficult to identify the "voice inflection" of a post, right?

Oh, and I was invited by someone to respond to this thread...let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Guys......warning.

Wow..........when I saw the title of this thread, I just knew it would be trouble.

Guys, the personal attacks need to stop. Otherwise I'm closing this thread....last warning.

On a personal note, I try to make my Type S look nice and noticeable. If someone comments or waves to me because of it...great. If they don't, no big deal. I love my Type S-and that's all that counts.

You can always tell the enthusiasts-they mod their cars. And, you can always tell the people who drive their car because it gets them from Point A to Point B. They don't even have tint on their windows.

perhaps yes the spoiled brat with the BMW will drive like an ass, but i believe that it comes down to the driver moreso than the car itself. yes there will be a few male 20 somethings that have been privileged their whole life and have a total lack of appreciation for most things, then you have the invincible 20 yr old driving a POS (i saw one a few weeks back with PA tags in MD driving a beat to hell stratus who cut me off and proceeded to be a complete dick after i flipped him off, then he kept on weaving in/out of traffic). the invincible 20 yr old again, has the same type of bubble of the "snobby" bmw kid. he also feels that he is entitled to drive and cut people off b/c he can (and will) without an thought to others around him (safety and courtesy).

so the car can sometimes make the driver (spoiled 20 yr old (insert nice car here) driver), but its usually the driver that has issues regardless of the vehicle driven.

But, seriously...I've never understood how a freaking hunk of metal on round rubber can inflate a person's sense of self-worth.

I drive what I want because I can A) afford it and most importantly B) I like it. Obviously, it matters to me that the car is generally accepted as a reliable and good choice by enthusiasts...but, otherwise, in terms of my self-worth. Nope.

My "ego" consists of my education, work experience, and what I've learned from my peers/parents/mentors in life...everything else is material. And again, who cares.

People confuse ego with pride.

My car gives me a lot of pride. It's certainly the nicest car I've owned to this point.

In turn I like to display that pride by keeping it looking good and driving appropriately.
