Vinyl Wrap the whole car??!!
So I was thinking of getting the top of my car wrapped in gloss black since I haven't seen many Kbp with it done . I went into this shop that do wraps and custom work to get a quote and just for fun asked how much the whole car would be. They told me 1,900 any color I want, they can also do the grill and little accents (door pillars maybe etc) for extra of course. they had many colors and carbon fiber as well. They had a Lamborghini that got wrapped in Matte white and the accents in carbon fiber in the shop and let me tell you it looked amazing!!.
I love my KBP color but I have many imperfections scratches and such that would be solved instantly with a wrap and change is good. Sooo what do guys think... opinions ...concerns.. pictures ??? here is an old pic of mine. I have since dropped it with HR coilovers and put the stock wheels back on....sorry for the long post btw!![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)

I was thinking of doing the same thing to my kbp, but in semi chrome so it comes out anodized blue. Saw a M6 with it the other day and it looks freekin awesome, but I can't justify spending 2g's on what's really a sticker...

Keep in mind that it will last about 3-5 years and the more it sits in the sun the more the adhesive will bake into the paint making it harder to remove and possibly damage your paint should you ever want to go back to paint.

After thinking about it, instead of paying $1,900 to get the car vinyled only to hide the "imperfections & scratches" you said your KBP has, I would just pay a professional detailer to perform any paint correction needed and just work his magic on your car. It'll look brand new like it just rolled off the dealership again.
To get a professional detail + paint correction I'm assuming it would be somewhere near the $1,000 range.
I know a professional detail of exterior and interior alone can easily run ~$400-600. Some may argue and say anything over $200-300 is ridiculous, but they don't understand how labor intensive detailing can be and to get the best results takes the best skill and experience as well as time and patience which means you'll end up paying more in the end but the result will definitely be jaw dropping.
There's a car wash down my street that does "full hand wash + hand detail" and costs the most compared to the rest of the washes they offer. If I remember correctly it runs for about $70-$120. I work next door and watch them all the time and I just see them applying liquid spray wax and removing it with a dry towel. That's not a true detail, but for that price you can't expect a true detail. After all, it only takes them about 1 hour to do 1 car with only 1 person working the whole time, whereas a true detail can take upwards to 5 hours or even more!

You all have valid points. They did say it had a 3 year warranty the details Im not sure. The guy did also say its even easier to remove. Im gonna start with just the roof and grill and later down the road maybe the whole car.
I do need a Detail bad but I also have scratches and stuff that even a detail wont fix.

I would only bother wrapping if you were going to go for carbon fiber look. Otherwise, KBP is a beautiful color. Just pay $500ish to get a true full detail job and make that paint look new again.

Wrap the whole thing in chrome mirror!!!...
Or spend the money on aspec you'll probably have to paint & just have them touch up your car possibly just paint roof black...sure you can do all that for the same price...
Otherwise I wrapped my roof black myself for $50 & 2hrs with a heart gun & soapy water...ordered from Ebay...

plenty of professional detailers in socal for well under $500, and that definitely includes paint correction. but then we have a lot of everything when it comes to cars here in socal hence the competitive prices

what the hell is wrong with you guys?!?! Do you think wall paper on your walls also looks better than paint in your houses? vinyl wrap is tacky ass hell and a waste of money. KBP is sexy ass hell don't ruin it just to get your ride attention. Choose beauty of attractiveness and that goes for you ladies out there too.

I disagree. If you use quality vinyl it's pretty amazing stuff. And fully reversible. Check out thesignsavers on Instagram and tell me it's not high quality.
When done right, it looks as good as paint and you have a much lower cost and wide selection of colors.
I do agree that matte colors (all of them) should be reserved for certain exotics or heavy modded cars. Doesn't flow well with your average stock height family sedan.
Satin, however, is a finish in between matte and gloss and it's spectacular. 3M's satin white pearl is so popular they were on backorders for 2 months while I waited for mine. Again it never ended up on the car but I've seen it on everything from mclarens to bentleys to bimmers.

2004 Carbon Gray 3.5RL
I've had my old RL front end wrapped before and after 5 years, it's still holding up strong on the old black car. and i got the whole face lift wrapped for $150 and it matched great.
drove to work one morning with a white front end, left an the next day the whole car was all black.
I'd do it again but only with someone i trust like the last guy i used... I've seen people do it before that don't have a clue what they are doing and it looked like they pieced it together and created Frankenstein.
old front end on my old '96 RL...

Sorry, didn't mean to highjack, but I love vinyl for a quick change... and that seems like a decent price, but.. i love the stock blue color too! might as well get it detailed and repaired and enjoy that beautiful blue

The 3M wrap that was used on my RL was pretty resilient. Bug guts and bird poop never ate into the wrap, washed off easily. Waxed easily. Fairly resistant to small or light scratches.
if an area would get messed up some how, pretty hard to do, then unwrap that area and re-wrap and call it a day. 5 minutes to peel it off and however much time to re-wrap it.
The guy that impressed me with the strength and flexibility of the vinyl. The hood from the windshield down to the grill surround was all one piece. Heat gun and pulled and stretched and it honestly looked like it was paint. No lines or imperfections at all.

From what I understand, the 3m vinyls are rated at least 5 years and you can treat them like paint; ie wash it like you'd wash a regular painted car.
I used 1080 Scotchprint on my roof in gloss black; it was my first time and there were some imperfections but it's pretty easy to work with. Heat and pull and it stretches, just heat and it shrinks like heat shrink almost. Pretty cool and very durable. My roof lasted over a year and looked perfect before I sold the car. With the proper tools (heat gun, vinyl squeegees, exacto knife, alcohol bath) it's not that hard to work with.
