Vibration

I just got my Silver/Ebony 6MT HPT TL. From the moment I got on the highway, it vibrated at highway speeds. The next morning I took it, the dealer balenced the tires and then at highway speeds, I felt a 'pulsing' sensation. I took the service manager for a ride, he felt it, so they replaced the wheels and tires with a new set from an unsold TL. It still has a 'pulsing' or purring vibration at high speeds.

The dealer said I am the second one to complain about this and they have contacted the factory rep.

This car is awesome other than that.

Has anyone else experienced this problem in a 6MT and how did it get resolved if at all? very stressed by all of this. Did I buy a POS?

All my cars for the past 5 years have been 17 or 18" wheels with sport suspensions, mostly BMW or Mercedes, so I know what that kind of setup is supposed to feel like.

Thanks

You seem to suffer the Acura-so-called characteristic vibration, it could from tires, engine, or tranny. What is your speed while you feel this? 50-55 MPH?

What tires are you using? HPT?

What tires are you replacing? EL42s?

You may do some search... there are tons of vibration issues in this forum, they're talking about the same thing... Most of complaint are tires, EL42s... some of them are HPT....

The tires are the high performance tires, the bridgestone potenzas. The speed is 60 or above. Gets really noticable above 80 mph.

Most of the vibration stuff I found when I searched has related to the auto-tranny or the standard El42 tires.

These tires are very low profile . . . 45 . . . . perhaps that is the problem? I am guessing most other comparable sports sedans have tires that have a larger profile, and thus you won't feel as much vibration? Am I right? what is the tire size on the G35 and 330ci? I am guessing 50 or 55 . . .

Was it cold in where you are when this happened?

This is one of the guys ever saying the vibration issue in his 18" tires/rims. He posts tons of threads about his issue, and it ends up with the purchase of new aftermarket tires/rims.

I believe there is no answer yet.

Sorry to hear you have this issue.

Very Cold?

That ain't cold. Its about 10 F here in Toronto and that's cold. The tires have a built-in vibration characteristic that is a design flaw. My understanding is that there are new tires under development by Bridgestone that will serve as replacement for those who need them.

In very, very cold weather, they are not too bad. But when there are significant changes in temperature that can cause quite the vibration problem. The biggest problem seems to be caused when the car is driven in modest cold temperatures, say 40 F, parked for 4-7 hours or so and then driven when the termperature drops significantly - say to below freezing.
