Vehicle Liability Rating/Symbol

My 06 TL auto/nav has a rating/symbol of "H6." Does anyone know what that really means? I called up the insurance company and was told that the rating is given by the manufacturer, and it is used to determine the insurance premium charged for the car. I was also told that the same car (with the same year and same specification etc) may have different rating/symbol, and thus may potentially be charged different premiums. This does not make any sense to me! Your clarification and reasoned input will be appreciated!

To answer my own question, I did some research and came up with the following article: http://www.insurancejournal.com/maga...ures/41718.htm, which seems to explain how the rating system works. However, I still do not understand why the insurer told me that two cars having the same make, model and specification may have different ratings, which means different risk/coverage premiums. Could it be the insurer is trying to rip people off? Am I being too cynical?
