Question Used ECM or New ECM? (2005 TL Nav)

Hello everyone, this is my first post here where it seems I'll find the most help. I'm going through the process of inspection and after replacing an O2 sensor that was throwing a code (p0141). It hasn't gone away even after resetting the monitors. My mechanic followed up the electrical to make sure there's not corrosion on any terminals effecting it, and there's also no sign of a clogged catalytic converter. Our consensus is that the ECM might be having an issue, though i don't want to pay the $950 for a new one. My question is must I use a new one, or will the 05 TL be able to handle reprogramming a pre-owned one. I'm also hoping that this is the answer and i don't end up replacing it just for that check engine light to still be.

Is there maybe some sort of sequence of actions within the car I can do to reset it properly, more so than clearing with a diagnostic tool would do?

The below gives an idea on what's involved with ECU replacement.
Search ebay for 37820-RDA-A62 take your pick for under $60ish.

Reprogramming will set you back $410 at the dealer.
