used '08 TL-S - good deal?
Found a newly used '08 WDP TL-S. Owner states it's in like-new condition. We agreed on $29800 (+TTL). Good deal?
Also, I'd like to know what AZ'ers think of taupe interior vs ebony/silver interior (with the WDP exterior).
Thanks.

Sorry guys, in my haste, I realized I left out a lot of important info.
7000 miles
automatic
private seller - states it's basically brand-new (3 mos old)
I would have it inspected, and I would also fly out to check it out myself before I buy (it's out of town), then drive it home.
For the purposes of the question, let's assume the seller is accurate with the description, and that when I see it and drive it, I agree that it is indeed in excellent, "like-new" condition.

I've been in the market for an '07-'08 TL-S myself for the last month.
Here is my observation:
Dealer 2008 with around 4-7k miles go for $29000-31000
Private party 2008 : around $28000-29000
Dealer 2007 with around 17-22k miles go for $26000-28000
Private Party 2007: $24,500-26000
I got lucky and found a private party 2007 with 23k miles for $23,000.
So, to the OP - $29800 is a little bit too high, you should be able to pick it up for $28,500 - 29000 from a private party

Thanks, man. I have seen some '07 TL-S's with about 17K miles for maybe about $25-26K as the best advertised price, but I have not seen any '08's with low miles (e.g., < 10K) for < about $28500.
The best deals I've seen are for CBP, KBP, and ASM.
Problem is finding a WDP with low miles and a good price.
So it appears that color factors in a lot, and sellers overall are pricing WDPs and NBPs higher than others. Has this been your experience?

^ There almost the same. Cars that tend to have aftermarket rims/parts (depending if its factory) are less expensive because lots of people who buy cars would either not like them because its a family car or they assume that you race with the car. OP you should try to dock down due to the economy (and his demand to sell) and the fact that he is selling it himself. Supposedly, selling it from Private Party decreases the sell at least $2,000 and it goes higher depending on the overall condition of the car (not only appearance, but services done on time, tire life, etc...).
Good luck on purchase of car!
As always, check VIN and bring it to Acura for its $125 Pre-Owned Checkup or bring it to a trusted Mechanic!

The price is pretty good but you should be able to get it for 28k-29k. Anyone saying more than this is not actively car shopping and basing it on opinion. I could have bought an '08 Type S NBP/Black in Nov for $28,200 but it had 15k miles and for an '08 I thought this was too many. Wound up getting an '07 Type s with 17k miles in WDP/Taupe. Good luck. Offer $28,250 and see what he says

***scratching my head***
The TL-S models are still in demand.
This is a nused 08 TL-S w/7k miles for $30k. You ain't gonna get it for anything less than $28-29k - no chance.

the deal is done
Finally got the '08 WDP TL-S (ebony/silver interior). Purchased it locally (CPO) for a little more than what I originally wanted to pay, but I think it was worth it.
After looking at hundreds of listings of '07 and '08 TL-S's, including CPO vehicles, throughout the country, I decided that $29K would be a good (and fair) offer for a CPO '08 WDP TL-S with 13K miles. So I headed out to the local dealer over the weekend to check it out.
The car itself was in immaculate condition and was kept in the showroom. It was pretty much in like-new condition, and the leather smelled nice inside. It drove and handled terrific.
It was listed at $32995 on-line (which I thought was a bit steep, especially given that there are a couple BRAND NEW ones that can still be had somewhere in the U.S. for around that price - although by now, I don't know if those cars are still listed).
I offered $29K, and the manager basically laughed at me for suggesting that, and he finally brought his price down to 31995. I told him no thanks and left. As I got in my car to leave, the salesman ran out to tell me that the manager was very reluctantly offering 30995 as an absolute rock-bottom price. He told me that the manager would probably not have even offered it to one of his empolyees for that price. It was take it or leave it (I also happened to be there on the last day of the month).
I decided to take it for the following reasons:
1) local, so I didn't have to deal with an out-of-state dealer who had the new car I had been eyeing for a while, so I saved on inspection and shipping fees, as well as inconvenience and worry that the car might be damaged in transit
2) CPO, so it has an extra year of bumper-to-bumper on top of the 3.5 years of remaining warranty (original purchase was made in August '08)
3) looks and drives like new
4) if any problems that came up that I would need to deal with the seller directly, they're local, so they can't hide far away
5) I don't know if there's any truth in this, but the manager said that many of the TL-S listings I told him about were for cars operated in the north, where they are much more prone to rust, so the car he was selling me was going to be a better quality car for the miles (we're in TX)
6) this car had the ebony/silver interior, which, seen in person, I actually like much more than the taupe on the new '08 TL-S that I originally planned on acquiring
Anyway, hope you all don't ding me too bad for paying more than advised, but honestly, these cars are in fairly short supply, so TL-S lovers don't exactly have a huge amount of bargaining power. And in all fairness, they did meet me in the middle (average of 32995 and 29000). And also, the selling price ended up probably not too far from the average of the prices of all CPO '08 TL-S's listed on-line with comparable miles.
So, not a great deal, but a fair deal. Any opinions?
Oh yeah, my happiness over the car (thus far), I might add, has no dollar value.

I might add that this car also included the following accessories:
Lo-jack
Pro Pack (wheel locks, trunk tray, color-matched splash guards)
optional tint (they said 35% all the way around)
pin stripes

I wouldn't say you paid a bad price for it. I got an 08 Type S with 12000 or so miles on it this past Saturday and paid 29000 w/ttl. The dealer also fixed the few problems that I saw with it in the contract. Mine is WDP, 6 spd, with ebony/silver interior. I also traded my 06 Mini S in for it. I live in Hawaii and finding a TL-S is hard, this dealer had 2 2008's on the lot with the same miles. If you want something bad enough, a price cant be put on it.

That's a decent price I'd say. I got my brand new Base/navi TL last Oct for 30,595... I prefer the styling of the Base one anyway (interior color, exhaust, rims)...
The way I see it, if you find the car you like in the right color and features, it's worth paying a little more now than regretting it later on.

Loving my 08 TLS!
al1515, you made a right choice. Having a local dealer for any warranty repairs is worth the extra money you paid. You will always get into a "bragging" war from people who pay less for there TLS. Different regions of the country have different demands. Now, just enjoy your new ride. WDP with ebony/silver is a very sexy combo.
