Pretty sure its past the point of no return, 20k miles ago I installed a cooler, inline filter, switches, 3x3 flush and 1x3 flush (redline racing/d4) 2-3 times since, also just did the switches again. Maybe the maintenance I have done is sustaining it, but don't feel like there is anything else I can do.
The weird thing is its not getting worse, possibly a bit better than some point in the past.
Another odd thing is one time I lost first gear and it shifted perfectly, just happened once randomly.
What symptoms did your failing slowly have?

About 2 years ago my 07 3.2L auto tranny went out around 45k. This was about 3k after switching to Redline's racing ATF (Type F). Tranny was rebuilt and at about 76k now with Redlines D4 running through the Acura reman tranny.

No fails yet but I have noticed a slow shift into 3rd. not huge in gap shift but its there and its pissing me off haha. Gonna change the filter and trans oil when i do the sensors. We'll see how it all pans out after all said and done.

I'm actually thinking about upgrading from a 2G to a 3G, and while I know the transmissions are a lot more reliable than the 2000-03 models, it's a shame to hear the even after the Odyssey/Accord/Prelude/TL/Pilot/MDX fiasco in the late 90s and early 00s, Honda still couldn't get their act together by the mid 2000s. Don't want transmission headache. I guess Honda A/Ts have always been slush boxes.
I wonder how their new A/Ts are. (Not talking about the CVT).

Bringing this back from the dead, I'm still on my 2nd tranny at 94k, but I worry all the time that it could go out with no notice.
Any new tranny failures? What miles? Any reman tranny failures?

Maybe this is common knowledge here, but maybe not. Anyway, if you don't know, Honda has a fundamentally different approach to automatic transmissions than the rest of the world.
For a layman's explanation, check out this: https://forums.edmunds.com/discussio...-design-unique
And this: These transmissions need to quit their whining | Search Autoparts
The short story is the design requires smaller clutch packs that are more susceptible to wear because... well, they're smaller.
Not sure if this data is helpful, but it might offer some insight to those not in the know.

My transmission made it to 157,200 miles, clutch sprag failed. Had it rebuilt and an aftermarket cooler installed. Unfortunately the shop didn't check the new cooler lines, transmission failed after about 62k miles. Went to a different shop, he found packing material in the cooling lines, removed it all, flushed them to be sure. Rebuilt the transmission and used the TransLab shift kit. Shifts great now. Currently at 228,500 miles.

Original 2006 owner and AT currently is at 115K miles with no issue. 1X Honda ATF changes at 60K, 90K and 115K miles. 3 and 4 switches changed at 100K. Planning to do 1X Honda ATF changes every two years, about every 15K miles. So far so good.

Still going strong with Type-F change early in life of car
Original 2006 owner with 99,847 miles with no AT issues (just replaced timing belt this weekend)
I'll wait until the oil change after 105K to change out ATF and filter. I have some new DW-1 and Type-F in stock for that. I'm thinking this time going with 2.5 DW1 and 1QT Type-F for next change.
Transmission shifts great but it does scare me a little bit for next ATF change.
- 22k (changed 3/2009) - Z1
- 38k (9/2010) - Redline type-F - 3QTs & .5 Z1
- 54k (2/2013) - Redline type-F - 3Qts & .5 Z1 + sensors

2004 I got 06.2018 w 122k, I'm 3rd owner. Did the 3X w Z-1 I think --from WM after a few months plus switches. Felt the shutter. bought switches on Amazon, $60 or $70 delivered. One switch failed after a couple of months - Drive light started flashing. Ordered 2 new switches from OEM Acura Parts, $125 delivered. Learned a lesson there, but got Amazon to refund me 2 months after their return date expired !!! Car doing fine now so far at 130K. B

238k miles. owned car since 99k miles. in over 6 years
130k, car shifted slow into third and did switches and 1x3 redline d4. felt perfect
180k car shifted little slow again, did switches and 3x3 redline d4
235k car was doing some weird down shift or slow shift, 1x3, and pressure switches--shifted better. now have a slow/weird shift every other day.
tranny seems to be giving me signs it wants to quit.

2005 base model with 253K. I first noticed some odd behavior with the AT in 2011 at around 110K miles. After reading pretty much all the relevant threads here, I switched over to Red Line racing fluid, doing 3-4 swaps over a couple months. I also changed to switches in 2011 and again in 2018. Later changed to a mix of racing/RL D4 in varying proprtion (using up bottles, etc.) No issues yet, as far as I know. 8-)
