ua6 vs. dc5

RSX-S : SRI, Exhaust
TL 5AT: J-Pipe, SRI

DIG:

While he was honking off, i accidently eased up a little. He went for it and I kinda hesitated for a split second and went. He got me about 3 cars in middle of third gear.

40 Roll:

I wasn't in VTEC range for a second, RSX was. Stood by him all of second. Third gear he started gaining. I left off after 2 car lengths. He was still going i don't know why and he came back to me saying he "smoked" me. I guess he thought I was still going.

CLIFFS: 3 car loss in dig
2 car loss in roll

Was it a 05-06 or 02-04 RSX-S? 05+ are faster years. I thought your auto TL would have put up a better fight. When I just had CAI on my Auto AV6 I beat my cousins 02 RSX-S with I/E at the time from a dig and a roll.

HKS I believe. Not sure the size piping.

To the others, I did have an AEM CAI, but bracket broke, so I just hacked it and replaced it. Actually, the SRI is SUPER LOUD compared to the CAI. But yea, I'm getting heatsoaked bad.

It was an 05-06 model. I've raced an 02-04 before from a roll with exhaust and intake and won. The only thing I had at that time was a CAI.

BTW Iforyou: It's a k20z1, not a2

I've beaten RSX's on the road with intake/exhaust..

Something is deff. wrong with your car/driving.. either that or your buddy with an RSX is a hell of a driver.. 2-3 cars is a helluva lot when it comes to the 1/4.

U sure the rsx isn't k-pro'd?/reflashed?

To be honest I have no clue. Maybe it could be heatsoaked motor. I'm not sure how you can mess up driving a 5AT. I'll give it another shot next time. He told me he has exhaust and intake unless he has something up his sleeve.

With what that RSX had, it shouldn't be unless the OP's friend is sandbagging.

My friend has an intake/exhaust on his RSX-S, and just like the tC, I left it behind with everything in my sig except the ATLP's.

What mods were done to the RSX-S you raced? I'll try again later on whenever I get the chance.

Not a surprise. My RSXS was one of the baddest little cars I have ever owned. One well driven can compete with almost anything on the road. It would beat the IS300 and 330ci auto at the time and I hung on the rear bumper of my friends g35 coupe 6MT through 80, I always beat him when he messed up the launch, and it smoked the 02 WRX 5MT from a roll and always pulled it hard on the highway. That engine responds like hell to any modification and that car was so easy to drive well, great shifter and clutch, maybe the best I have ever experienced. This is a drivers race to begin with but that was a bit much, did you have your rims on?, that will do it.

u can mess up driving a 5AT, that is if you dont know how to launch the car/shifting right before redline. Did u use brake-torque on the dig? and don't do no 40 roll, that is your biggest mistake, you are at the lowest rpm's on 2nd gear..

Best is do 30mph roll, 3 honks, mash the pedal to the floor. u will immediately drpo to 1st gear, right at v-tec.

DO NO go over 30mph.. otherwise, it'd be worse than doing a 40 roll.

or 60 roll at 2nd.

Remember to race in. mexico.

I'm aware of that. 40 Roll was his request. If I brake-torque from the dig, it'll just shift into 2nd by itself then drop down into 1st again *shrugs*.

I agree with SRI comments, they can be a double-edged sword. Not to look foolish, but I just want to rule everything out, it sounds like you weren't shifting your own gears, on the 40 roll you weren't it in the right gear, you know he was. If you were than it seems like your reaction was a bit off.

I guess I'm retarded. Eh bleh. It's ok. I'm fine with my loss. I'll record the next race with him when I get a chance. And don't worry, all the races are on flat roads in the middle of no where with open fields on each end.

I think a 50 / 55mph roll would land you right into VTEC to start .. a 60mph roll would make you have to change gear almost immediately putting you back.

I guess it's just personal experience.

If anything, I usually race from a no less than a forty five roll. Just right in vtec for second gear

ib18c1 had both cars...

05-06 RSX-S with Fujitsubo PowerGetter and Gutted Box got 9.41 at 1/8 mile

his 06 TL 6MT with:

AEM V2 COLD AIR INTAKE
ATLP JPIPE
ATLP RACE PIPE
ATLP QUAD EXHAUST got 9.54 1/8 mile.

That must have been a really bad night for the TL. I got a very shitty 9.52 1/8 mile with a stock 6MT and a crappy launch. RSX-S is faster then TL auto, but def not the 6MT

The 05-06 RSX-S is slightly faster stock vs stock than a TL Auto. The 02-04 is a good drivers race. I have found that some of those 05-06 RSX-S's can run 14.6-14.7 bone stock. I know that I dust my cousins 02 RSX-S though so thats all that matters to me as far as bragging rights!!

that is why u brake torque in "L" mode.. it will stay in first till close to redline, sometimes right at redline, depending on your tire spin in the beginning..

Don't hold the brake for too long either.. Just hit it right before the honks/flag.. should be 1 sec or less to brake torque and then release brake immediately, and adjust throttle accordingly.

I've raced this car so many times, i don't think u'd take me serious if i ever told u..

Oh wow, I learned something new today.

Oh and jashaa, I did this because I was thinking about how much mods we need in order to beat/keep up with a dc5.

I kinda forgot that I posted a thread in this section haha.
