Type S rear bumper

im curious has anyone ever been to a acura stealership to see how much a rear bumper of a TL TYPE-S would be put on a 06 Acura TL A-SPEC? im curious i want it so i can get my quad exhaust.. thanks so much for the input. or if someone else has a better solution for the bumper as "where i could buy for cheaper" that would be great. thanks for all suggestions.

I see one on an Acura OEM parts website, they are asking for $232.98 for just the bumper. The rear lip is $264.

I checked out acuraoemparts.com It's DelRay Acura. I'm assuming the bumper and the lip come painted since they make you choose a color when ordering.

Why would you need the rear bumper for quad exhaust? Wouldn't the rear TL-S A-Spec lip fit your 2006 TL ? The rear 2006 bumper can be trimmed because the TL-S A-Spec rear lip will cover it up. IS THIS CORRECT? I also really like the ATLP quad exhaust and want it for my 2006 TL that JUST had a 2006 A-Spec body kit put on. If I had known this a month ago I would have ordered the 08 TL-S rear A-Spec lip with the body kit.

That's correct, many people here have done that.

I'm going the same route too.

so basicle keep the bumper, remove the aspec lip, and the exhaust will fit? or are you saying that i will have to trim the bumper, and buy the type S lip to make it fit to accomodate the exhaust? cause my 1st thought was to buy the exhaust and take the bumper to a body shop and tell them to mold the bumper exhaust ports around the exhaust to make ti look pretty. but guess i dont need to do that now?

i cut 2 lil notches out to fit the type s exhaust on my 05 aspec kit and then i traded someone for the type s bumper and had the whole thing repainted and the type s aspec kit added and painted.
this is the rear 08 aspec kit and bumper

and these are the cuts outs i made originally

I made the cuts on the inside because you cant see it unless you really looked for it and thats the only place the exhaust was really touching and blocking the pipe from coming out.

just do the cutting for the type-s aspec on your base bumper. I mean in theory if you have the regular base apsec lip installed you've already drilled thru the rear bumper anyways, so doing a little cutting on an area you're never going to see again won't set you back at all...

found a website where you can find ton's of parts for any car! the cars are for the most part wrecked but you find plenty to salvage. now, that rear cover bumper from a TL-S is $405...im trying to get them to lower it so i can move along with plans to get the ATLP

although, in order for the type-s aspec lip to work, you will have to cut your 2004 bumper.

Related question on this, hoping justn is subbed or other experienced folks know and can chime in:

So my '05 base was rear-ended. I had the body shop get me a '07-'08 bumper cover instead (small difference out of pocket), but it's an aftermarket cover. It has the vent/opening like it should. I'm having a new Type-S rear underspoiler repainted and installed out of pocket. The shop is telling me the exhaust cutouts are too small for the spoiler. But I thought the '07-'08 bumper had wider exhaust openings, no? Is it possibly a problem due it being aftermarket? Is there more than one rear bumper cover for '07-'08?

my car is at the shop right now too, getting insurance work done, AGAIN.

i can tell you this, SHOPS go by VIN number.
they looked up your vin and ordered the corresponding bumper.
YOU will need to go to the shop and sort things out.
YOU will need to show them which bumper and which lip kit you want.

my car was supposed to be ready on March 18th. But, i am suspecting they ordered the wrong things!
they pushed back the completion date to the 26th, then the 1st...and now are saying by thursday or friday.
I dont really care any more, I just want my car.

but for you, I would physically check the bumpers to make sure they got the right ones.

07-08 base bumper is same as 04-06 base bumper... the exhausts didn't change. you should have had the shop order a 07-08 type s bumper.

So the parts cost $500 and they are charging you $200 for install/paint? How is that extortion? Unless I got it wrong somewhere

D'oh. That's it then...research fail. I wasn't aware there was a Type S bumper cover,. Lesson learned. I'll work with the shop to figure out something. Thanks for the clarification.
