I wouldn't even call it a race! We were lined up on Lincoln (near sunset blvd), this orange S2000(I guess it's a japanese version because the guy was driving on the passenger side).. When the light changed he jumped 3 car lengths on me! I heard a spooling sound fade away as I tried to catch up, but it wasn't gonna happen.. He then pulled into the gas station near great highway.. I followed him in and wanted to ask him about his car, but he didn't speak english.. I saw an intercooler thru his front bumper this was in my 03 type s

I doubt it. They run high 13s stock. We run like mid 14s with mods

 

They run high 13s if you drop the clutch at 8K rpms and are a very good driver, but I'd say they are more of a 14.0~.15 car.

 

Stock? I wonder it I can get my 08 to run 13's without f/i.. I plan on getting a s/c.. that is when they make one, but hopefully with procats/pulleys/tb spacer & CAI i will be around 270-280 at the wheels..

 

I know who that is. Well, not personally but my friend does and I know where he got the car from. It's a real JDM S2K with VGS (some sort of special steering thing). I remember when they first got the car and we surrounded him on Sunset Boulevard but he didn't want to run any of the Supras or blown G35s so we left. Good to know that he would've kept up if not beat the G35s!

^Yeah bout a week ago... i'm stil gonna keep my 03'... It was like deja vu, I saw a yellow s2000 on lincoln this afternoon, pretty high spoiler/aftermarket exhaust... He was with his girlfriend so he didn't want to run... he probably was boosted too..

Oh I meant a stock S2K, but a stock 6SPD Type-S can probably pull a 13.9 if they can grab traction.

 

I had to get the auto that was the only black on black they had.. is that as bad as the gap from 2nd gen auto to 2nd gen 6sp?

 

It's only for sale locally, I'm afraid. It's not even posted anywhere, but spread via word of mouth. I don't even know the full specs other than it's the top of the line for Japan (which is always more than the US). My car is the top of the line with all options for the US but the JDM top of the line had navi and a rear deck mounted air cleaner. Quite advanced for 1995. Also, the US only got 3.2TLs starting in 1996 because of a trade dispute with Japan.

I haven't looked at the gear ratio numbers on the 2nd gen TL models but the 3rd gen Auto TL is slow. You'll run into difficulties at 4th gear. Not only the 4th but the entire gears a bit too tall. That's what you get for having 5spd auto.

I wished you requested for a 6MT version. If they didn't have it, should've ordered one, or checked another dealer. You can do some serious hauling ass with the 6MT, whether it's Type-S or Regular(~ '06).

man a boosted S2K would slaughter you! lol. ive ran an S2K on the freeway. he was byhimself and i had my coworker (f2nd day on the job) we ran from 60-about 120 and it was pretty damn even i was surprised i kept up. (with the extra passenger).

honestly i go on and off about trading in my '04 6MT NBP for an 02-03 s2k (i want the ap1. w/ 9k redline) but its only 2 door. n i like my car i just got some nokya hyper yellow for fogs. it looks sweet i dont know ho to post a pic tho.

but s2ks arent that fast if your a good driver you can take them (just barely tho. stock vs stock) gotta launch good and some clean shifting.
