TSW wheel quality? Opinions on these wheels?

Considering these new TSW wheels. Opinions? Anyone had experience with TSW wheel quality?

Thanks!
Travis

I owned TSW Trophy's for about a year on my Civic. Nice wheels but mine bent within the year. I didn't think I hit that many potholes but maybe I did. I had 205/40/17's on it. I know it's a totally different car and tire but just my thoughts.

Approx $200/each....

I've heard others say that TSW's are soft soft soft.....so I'm kind of hesitant...

I would not suggest these wheels. The TL deserves a forged multipiece wheels like HRE, GFG, Volk Racing etc. You will pay more, however you will get more. There is nothing worse than seeing a nice car with cheap wheels. Just save your money, even if you have to wait for next summer.

I agree....when I was a bit younger and into my fixed up Accord, I looked into TSWs as they were good for that time and that application. 5 years later, I wouldn't consider getting TSWs. Any wheel you can get for $200 probably is not that good. Forged is definately the way to go, but for the nicer Volks and BBS wheels you are looking at anywhere from $400-800 per wheel. Its a lot more dough, but the look is richer and the quality is first rate. Also, remember that wheels are an investment of sorts....if you buy nice name brand wheels now, you may transfer them to your next car. If not, the higher end wheels tend to retain their value and can be sold for some decent dough

not to mention higher-end wheels are usually designed for higher-end vehicles, some of which come with big calipers (as the 6mt does) and will clear the calipers without the need for spacers.

my friends and i use to joke about TSW's being "totally soft wheels".

I agree with you guys regarding spending more for wheels. I am all about quality, however, I am leasing the car and have no intentions of buying.
Is this a valid reason to go with knockoffs? What about ADRs? The look just like 3 piece wheels but average between $200-300.

I'm not sure that the look is what myself and the others here are concerned about. Its quality that matters. If you want to, look at R1 brand wheels, they tend to be inexpensive, but are pretty good quality (in fact, they offer at least one style of forged wheel). Like I mentioned in my post above, the wheels are easy things to put on and off, so the fact you are leasing does not matter much since you should turn the car back in with the stocks and retain the aftermarket wheels. If you spend a bit more on the wheels now, when its time to take them off to return the car they will likely be in better shape, worth more (if you decide to sell), and be stylish and quality enough to put on your next vehicle. As long as wheels are from a good manufacturer and are in good shape, there is a huge second hand market for them.

Looked at the R1s. They are not very nice. Interested in 5 spoke with the slit in each spoke. Similar to the SSR GT1.

If you are so into the SSRs, why not buy them???? A company called Nakayama made a very similar looking rim to the SSR, you might search that

Does anyone know if the OZ Superleggera is offered in our 5x114.3 and 40mm (or so) offset? That's a nice looking, good quality, LIGHT wheel.

Thanks,
Travis

Explain the logic....put cheezy, generally low quality wheels on a pretty nice car. Don't you want your car to look good?? Its not like the wheels go back with the car, you retain those.

I looked pretty close to the SSR and the wheel you recommended.. thanks by-the-way, and can barely see the difference. I am not the type that would bother with ebay and I can be 100% sure that the wheels will not fit my next car.
Why bother. I would rather just turn it in at 3 years with the stock wheels in the trunk and call it a day. But that's me.
they may be lower quality, but as far as appearance they are the same. So what if I have to replace one.. they will only be $150.

Fair enough...good luck with your purchase. Feel free to PM if you have questions as I am a pretty big wheel guy (unfortunately, however, my car is destined to be without wheels for now as my chosen wheel set is about $3500 with tires)

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't put "cheezy" wheels on a TL. Atleast I don't think the TSW's are cheezy looking. They make some nice wheels, nothing like Lowenhart, or forged wheels but their nice. Why would I spend $2k on wheels that will only be on the car I don't own for two years? That would be a waste of money for me unless you got it like that. So if I was leasing the car, then yes, I would find some lower priced 18-19" wheels to go on a car. Just because their cheaper doesn't mean they have to be cheezy!

Agreed. I think Vtech understands now....
I will not be putting cheezy looking wheels on the car, just maybe the quality will be a little less than the SSRs. Perhaps I will find 1 or two piece that will do. Point is, that's why I am in this forum. To find out alternatives.

Thanks for your help.

Yup, I get it....though I'm gonna get the expensive ones and sell them when the car goes back.

Michael, please advise what you get when you decide.

I actually like those TSW's. But I have to agree that you better off buying better quality wheels. I had BBS RC's for 3 years on my Audi A6. I knew they would hold up well, but what I didn't realize when I bought them was the design was almost timeless. Mesh wheels might never go out of style.

Will head back to the store this weekend and look at their rims. They should probably have wheels like this.
I still like the 5 spoke with slits.
Well, getting closer.
Hopefully, I won't disappoint the 04 TL owners here.
Will try and get a hold of a digital camera when I get them.

Those are nice, but maybe a little too "spokey" for me. I like a more symmetrical design. Often times the lines and shapes within the wheel design on aftermarket wheels don't go with the lines of the car itself. I think many consumers just don't get, and they pick out wheels that look completely misplaced on their car.

Not sure that I agree. I think people often make bad choices, but that is usually because they just pick a freakin ugly wheel. I'm not sure that the wheels go with the "lines" of the car. For instance, I see a lot of 3 series BMWs with those mesh type wheels (like the ones pictured above) and they look fantastic. I feel like the lines on the 3 series are not that far off from the lines of the TL. I agree that there are some wheels that look better on some cars than others, but I don't think it is some exact science (incl. basing the choice on lines, etc.)

they have a 19x8 with a +38 offset. those wheels are beautiful. i have an '03 TL-S and i looked into these wheels but the offset is way to low. they also weight about 20 pounds which is FREAKING LIGHT for 19's. oh and they are 5x114.3 as well.

What do u guys think about the brand RH Evolution?? THinking of getting these rims 19x8.5 w/235/35/19 tires. Anyone had these rims before and are they durable? Are they a reputable brand name? I had Fittipaldi rims before and they bent and cracked a few times due to potholes and due to my low profile tires.

check out the rim I am talking about below:
