Mobil 1™ Extended Performance High Mileage 5W-20

^^^This says oil change every 20,000 miles. Should I trust them or the MID?

No oil will be good at 20,000 miles.

How much mileage on your vehicle?
For reference, I have 146,000 miles on my 07 type-s 6mt and I change the oil every 3-4k.

Even at those intervals, the oil is burnt and ready to be changed. The higher the mileage on your vehicle, the more frequently you should be swapping the oil.
Even with low mileage, I would still be doing it every 5-6k, never anywhere near 10, let alone 20!

I have 220,000 miles on my 05 Base TL.

Minimum 1x/year since it becomes acidic and can eat away at the seals, gaskets and other bits and cause lots of leaks. If you do lots of city driving then 3K is a good interval, just check the oil level every time you get gas. If it seems like you are consuming more oil than you should, change the oil ASAP.

Highway is fine to 5K miles. Oil is cheap compared to needing a new engine and labor to replace!

Extended intervals lead to carbon buildup and clogged piston rings which makes oil burning worse! Those claims are for marketing, most of their sites will say to follow the manufactured recommend intervals and not what the oil says. Prime example, AMSOIL!

I went to the Acura dealership to get the oil drain plug crush washer and they were charging me $2.98 for each of them. Online they are 46 cents each but it has a $11.29 shipping fee. Then I asked if they would match online prices and they said they would do $2.50 for each crush washer. What a conundrum.

I'm paying between $11 and $18 for ten packs of OEM crush washers, mail ordered from a dealership in PA.

The 20mm are the most expensive, but even then that's $1.8 per. Small part of the overall cost, and I build this into the price I'm charging anyways.

I'm not surprised the unit price is higher when buying single crush washers in-person from the parts counter.

$0.46 definitely isn't an OEM part, but maybe for something simile like a crush washer it doesn't matter.

Bad news my oil is leaking. My dipstick was a quarter below the full mark and I saw oil dripping underneath the car from the transmission housing. I need a new car, its just one problem after another, it never ends.

My RDX had like 7 different oil leaks until recently and my Accord drinks oil like a 2-stroke lol join the club.

Some would say your car is automatically changing it's oil for you

change your PCV valve and check the accessory belt area by the oil pan for leaks, and also the oil filter housing gasket (where oil filter housing mates to the block).

Oil filter housing gasket is easy fix; PCV may stop or reduce oil consumption or rear main seal leak. Beware that Rear main seal leak can also present if you overfill the oil! 1/4 below full mark doesn't seem that bad, how many miles since you last changed the oil?

I don't know how many miles since my last oil change but the MID went through a cycle from 100% - 0%, then I reset it without changing oil and changed it when it got the second time to 60% (which was yesterday).

I've always purchased oil/transmission fluid crush washer packs off eBay and never had a problem with either my 2012 Accord or 2008 TL (they use the same ones). 10-pack of oil drain bolt crush washers for $3.

You are running the oil too long in my opinion. Change every 3K city or 5K highway mileage.
