Trimmed door locks?
I think MichaelBenz has this done but I can't find the pictures.
Basically, when the car is locked, the door lock rods retract all the way into the hole. How is this done? |

There you go man, this is my thread. There is another descriptive thread out there somewhere too. |
^ Sweet man exactly what I want to do. I know you just sawed part of it off but how does it reconnect to the car? I guess I will know once I remove my door panel... but I thought I'd ask anyway.
When installed my moleskins, I tried to remove the door panel (I know, not necessary) and I couldn't get the back screw (in the rubber bump stop) out. It just kept spinning! I will be installing my KP module soon and need the panel off. Has this happened to anyone here? |
That screw must come out very slowly or you will strip it. Take a screw driver (flat head) or needle noise plyers and run it behind the rubber gromet and hold it against the metal. Then try to unscrew it. It should unscrew then.

That's right, it is a stupid design. Many including me have a problem with that screw too. The plastic screw holder easily gets stripped against the sharpness of the sheet metal.
When you saw the lock pin the thread will still be able to catch so there is no problem with having it thread back onto the car. What you essentially are doing is cutting a little length and thread off the pin that's all. It is wise to cut conservatively and a little at a time. Better than going too short. You can test fit it quickly to see if you have the appropriate height you need and repeat if necessary. |
Thanks

BTW it is SO nice not to have those locks sticking in you arm!
