Had my transmission fluid changed out in my automatic 08 TL. Checked it later and it was a bit too much. I used a manual pump and took out just enough through the dipstick.

Does anyone know how much I could pump out through the dipstick? And is it possible to refill through the dipstick? Just looking for an easier way than having to drain from the underside and the fill bolt is somewhat difficult to get to. Thanks in advance.

 

Can fill, but need to wait some time for all of the fluid to go down or whole dipstick will be wet from fluid.

Can drain, most likely will drain majority of the fluid, but won't pump out any debris that's on the bottom of trans case and won't clean the magnet on the drain plug.

 

I used a mityvac to drain from the dipstick tube and then removed the drain plug to clean the magnet, keeps things cleaner this way

 

Thanks for the reply and good points. I did just recently have a mechanic do an initial drain so most of the gunk should be gone. Just doing the second and third flush myself from the top side due to not being able to get 100% of the fluid out from the normal draining procedure.
