Transmission change question
Question abuot when to change my AT fluid:
I have a 07 TL type S and got a quote from firestone abuot $160 to flush my transmission fluid. He said it was brownish and smelled a lil burnt so it was optimal time to change it.
Im at 78k and am wondering if this is necessary now or if i shuold wait longer? I kno from the owners manual a code A3 signifies Trans fluid needs to be flushed, but do i wait for that or do i do it now or when is optimal.
please take into consideration : I drive alot about 25k a year and to work daily and home is a 60 mile trip alot of hills and windey roads. also i am a spirited driver so i gun it alot .. its jus how i drive... i want the car to last thru the 200k mile marker so i would like to take care of it as best i can, given the circumstances that the car deals with.
im new so my bad if posting in the wrong area or not seeing a previous post... I looked but coudlnt find anything

Did you check the transmission fluid level yourself? Is it brown and smells burnt? I just don't want you to be taken and do a fluid change when you don't need to. If it is low or bown with a burnt smell, then do the fluid change. Sounds like you're a little rough on the car and putting a lot of miles on it. Won't hurt to do it.
Not sure if you want to do the flush or a 3 x 3 fluid change. Perhaps someone else can chime in on what's better or best to do.

Go ahead and have it done.

Do not have them flush the AT! Could cause damage to transmission.
This is specifically advised against in the owners manual and most of the people on this forum would tell you that you should drain the transmission, drive the car a bit, then change it again.
If you use the search function for AT fluid change, you will find tons of threads on this topic and a DIY.

Transmission fluid is only dyed red to distinguish it from other fluids and will turn brown after a period of time which is perfectly normal. If a brownish color, do the normal fluid drain and refill, if dark brown with a burnt aroma, do the 3 x 3 change. It certainly can't hurt anything but lighten your wallet. As far as fluid, I'm a firm believer in the OE, now DW-1, but many take exception to this, so roll the dice, it's your choice.

It's really up to you when you want to change it. The manual says: Code A3 signifies transmission fluid needs to be flushed, but if you feel that you drive more than average yearly and that it's time to change it. Then go for it . I bought my TL used and at 65,319 I had the transmission fluid replaced at the local Acura dealer. Just because I don't know if the previous owner was up to date with maintenance on the car before I had it. I had bad experience with Valvoline flushing my transmission on my old car that I highly recommend you reconsider having small shops flushing your transmission fluid. Call your local Acura dealers for quotes, mines was only $88.52.

Everywhere you go, the price will always be for 1 DRAIN and 1 FILL.
They never do 3 DRAINS and 3 REFILLS. I'm 99% sure of that. Went to the honda dealer yesterday to have keys cut and saw they were charging $129.99 for a transmission flush. I didn't ask if it was a 1x3 or 3x3 but like I said, a lot of places only do 1x3 for that price.

If the fluid is black and smells burnt, it indicates that a clutch is probably slipping. If the fluid is brown, it could be contaminated or oxidized. If the fluid is milky and pink, it is contaminated by water or coolant.
