Well, it went down. Went to Daytona. Had an awesome dinner at "The Chart House" on the intercoastal (prime rib). Gave my wife a couple of birthday gifts from others and a rose/card from me. My son and his girl friend were there also.
After dinner we had to transfer her suit cases from my son's girl friends car to my CR-V. Of course they didn't know I had a CR-V. They were expecting a white Acura TL-S. So when I pulled up near her car they had a puzzled look on their faces. "What is this?" So, I explained that I traded in the TL-S for the CR-V. Everyone liked it and agreed it was more practical. We loaded up the CR-V and off we went heading for Jacksonville.
Fast forward an hour or so. My mother knew about the surprise and wanted to hear my wife's reaction when she saw the 350Z in the garage. So I called her just as I got into the neighborhood. Talked with her for a moment and then handed the phone to my wife so my mom can welcome her home. At that point I pulled into the driveway and press the garage door opener button. As she was getting out of the CR-V she noticed another car in the garage. Then it hit her! That the other car was for her. The 350Z had a huge red bow on the hood and "Happy B'day I "heart" U, in big red letters on the windshield. She kept repeating, "It's a Z, it's a Z" and "My dream car", as she was walking toward it. She just couldn't believe the car was there and it was hers.
I gave her the key so she can open and sit in it. She was saying "it has "Z's" all over". I took the bow off the hood and we went for a short driver around the neighborhood. She was like a kid in a toy store. I think it made her day.
Wouldn't you know it, her driver's license expired the next day. So, we'll have to get that taken care of this week.
I have a few pics of her with the 350Z that I will post up later. I'm at work right now. All in all, the surprise went off without a hitch. The look on her face was priceless.

Actually I'm enjoying the CR-V. Nice and roomy. But need to replace my lack of a Navi. I'm looking at getting the Megellan 1700 with a 7" screen. That would sure make a nice Christmas gift.

Dude get real - HonCura makes great cars, yeah, but Nissan's V6 is stellar. I had '02 and '03 Maximas with the same 3.5L and it is a killer engine. If my cars had been RWD like the Z, they'd have been darn near perfect.

You rock my friend!
Don't let one immature comment bring you down.
What you did and the reaction you described brought many smiles to people's faces reading this story. What an inspiration!

Thanks for all the great and encouraging comments. Yea, the 370Z would have been really sweet but the 350Z is fine. Her drivers license expired the very day she got the Z. So yesterday we went and renewed it. She's good to go now. Perhaps today she'll get out and actually drive it somewhere. She returns to work Monday, so she'll have to drive it then, but I'm sure she'll drive it before that.
Guys and gals, it was my pleasure to share this experience with you. After all, you are my Acura family!!
