I also feel they were bluffing, and took $600 over nothing. But your happy, and like you said, it's done.

Cool

2004MT6TL,

Congratualations on finally getting this isasue resolved. I don't agree with the final settlement, as they should not have gotten any addtional money from you for their blatant screw-up.

As for Service, I would be cautious when going back to this dealer, but unless they are total morons, they are not going to mess with your car. It will only come back to bite them if the car is still under the factory warranty. And by the time that expires, this whole episode will be long forgotten anyway.

But the important thing is that this "whole crazy saga" is behind you. Go and enjoy your new TL.

Regards,

Glad your satisfied with the deal but this thread itself would have burnt you in court. Public forums can be used in court as evidence. If you had stated that you didn't do the re-badging yourself, you might have been OK. But by stating that you had INTENTIONALLY re-badged it (for ANY reason) , means that you knew it might have been percieved by a potential buyer as a T5. True, the dealer is suppose to run a car fax in order to verify and apparently they did not. True, THEY are the ones controlling the trade negotiations and the courts know this (They also know this and it NEVER would have went to court). In the end, someone at the dealership screwed up and they tried to get as much as possible from you. Had it been me, I would have still told them I wanted to turn the car back in to call their bluff. But glad to hear you get to keep your TL.

Hey I know a guy that had a deal on a trade then after it was written up the dealer noticed a dent he did not notice before. But the paper was signed and the dealer had to eat it. If you have it in writing the 27,500 is yours!

Damn, they ain't going to win this one. They appraise vehicles all the time for trades. Now they are going to say, "I was stupid and thought it was a slightly different car." Judge will probably look at them like the MORONS they are.

Glad to hear it is done, and that you have your car! When push came to shove, they really didn't want the car back. Funny that they were jerks when you tried to straighten it out, and you ended out coming out ahead because of it. Nice to see it end well.

I would've made up a sob story like you had a family member in the hospital and you don't have a dime to spare and you wanted to return the car cause you had no more money.

Like I said earlier, watch your car's back when you take it in and make sure there's nothing in their system that has your car tagged as the "it" car etc etc.

Good ending for you but legally you didn't owe them a penny. It was their error. Now on the side of "fairness" it was nice that you acknowledged it and gave them some back. If the tables were turned and they owed you 3,500 we'd all be screaming. Sometimes when we're dealing with corporations we don't treat them fairly becuase they're not the little guy. But who knows what poor schlep got his ass chewed out for the mistake. So it was nice you were able to come to that agreement.

I'd take your car somewhere else for service. I'd check with Acura Client Services but I don't see anything wrong with Honda doing your oil changes, but I'd let Acura do the first service and the ones that are more than an oil change. Look at it this way, it's 40 enjoyable miles in your TL. Plus, chances are you'll get a loaner to drive while they work on your car. My dealer uses new models, not sure if the others do, but it would be a nice way to driver other cars in the lineup. Plus, you wouldn't be wondering if they did something suspecious to your car.
