Trade In Price for a 2007 Type S Auto

I would like to get some feedback on what would be an acceptable trade in value for my 2007 Acura TL Type -S with 14,000 miles on it and custom 19 inch wheels (although I have the factory wheels and tires if it can devaluate the amount. The car is in absolute excellent condition - not a scratch, ding or smudge mark, the interior is the same as the day I bought it. Never allowed the kids to eat in it nor anyone to smoke in it. I am leaving the Acura family since I received a promotion and large increase in my car allowance and looking at either a BMW 550i or a BMW M3 (both 70K cars). The 550 has the space and good power and the M3 has no space and great power - if I could afford the M5 that would have been hands down the car I'd drive off the lot in. Look forward to your responses.

By the way: I know I could get more selling it private party but really don't have the time or the patience to deal with that.

There are a number of threads about this. But serious an one year old car, you will take a big financial hit. Base on KBB.com site, trade in value for excellent condition is 26k. But the dealership uses the Galves book for use car values.

I think getting 26k will not be a problem at all.

the most your gonna get is probably 26,500 thats what Im thinking, seeing as how they will be able to sell the car for 29,500 tops.

Let us know

I got $30,500 last Aug 07 with 5,000 miles. Good luck.

OH, It also had tint, and A-Spec body kit. MINT.

Don't want to sound too ignorant but what's the galves book? Kelly has it at 27,250 and the dealer I bought it from has an identical one on there lot used at 13,500 miles for 32,500. I bought it new for just over 36K, so a 10K loss after 17 months is certainly better then I faired in blue chips the last 6 months of 07

That time and patience is probably worth about 3-5k... When I bought my TL-S last year every dealer I talked to offered me $5k less than I was able to sell my previous car for using Autotrader in 3 weeks time. The dealer's business is to give you less than your trade is worth.

Your best bet is to get a trade in value from the dealership and see if it is worth it to sell it privately with the tax savings.
