Total Led conversion

So, I recently purchased a set of plate leds for my car and since one flickers I figured I might as well place another order with v-leds so I can get my replacement/refund sooner and get the rest of the leds I wanted.

I am looking to convert almost all the lights in the car to led and I was hoping to compile a list of the best/most current offerings from v-leds for the specific locations in our cars as the other running thread is very long and confusing at this point.

Front Dome Lights
30 SMT Led Plates
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...68718-1-2.html

Rear Dome Lights
30 SMT LED Plates
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...68718-1-2.html

Plate Lights
5k 168 SMT Bulbs
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...14849-1-2.html

Trunk Light

168 Flank Bulbs
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...68086-1-2.html

Door/Courtesy Lights

168 Flank Bulbs
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...68086-1-2.html

Glove Box Light

74 3 SMT Led
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/G...98403-1-2.html

Center Console Light

74 3 SMT Led
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/G...98403-1-2.html

Reverse Lights (not sure if they will be any brighter)

High Power 14 smt Tower
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/P...82764-1-2.html

Vanity Mirror Light Lights

168 Flank Bulbs
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...68086-1-2.html

I won't be doing blinkers as I am running stock headlights and don't see the need. But for reference sake..

Front Turn Signal Bulbs (amber)
??

Front Turn Signal Bulbs (switchbacks)
??

Rear Turn Signal Bulbs
??

Don't get me wrong now. I know there are other great brands out there but I just wanted to go through v-leds as I already purchased from them and I just wanted to get everything from one single source.

I am open to suggestions for bulbs as well. I am a little worried the interior dome lights will be too bright but I'm not sure as its very hard to tell from pictures. I want to be just a touch brighter than stock but I do want that HID 5k white look thats so popular.

Hmmm nix the reverse lights... I think I'll either go with PIAA superwhite bulbs or an HID conversion.

anyone know if these bulbs will fit in the dome lights?

http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/G...-p6638587.html

I want to get them instead of

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...-p4481039.html

The size difference is about a 8mm or .31 inches.

I'd go for the led panels (30 smt ones) but from what I have seen they are way too bright for my liking.

The panels in the domes will throw the maximum amount of light right where you want it. If the 30LED panels are too bright, step down to either a smaller panel:
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...-p4481144.html
Or one of the flank bulbs:
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168709.html
Those 2 selections are only examples...go through the site to see all available options.
My point being any of the round bulbs will be firing some of their light in the wrong direction. Using panels or flanks will beam all light where you want it.

Thanks, I am going with the flank setups for the vanity and front domes but the rear bulbs are angled down so the flanks wouldn't work for the rear. The panel would work though. It does list them as being far brighter though at 90lm vs 12lm for the flanks. Hmm, according to their specs the smaller 6smt panel is brighter than the 30 panel as well (90lm vs 60lm).

I could go back to the smaller 5smt round bulbs for all the domes. My real concern lies with getting all the domes to be the same brightness and not being overly bright as I actually use the domes while driving and don't feel like being blinded by insanely bright 30smt panels. I would go with the 2825 round smt bulbs but after taking some measurements they don't look like they will fit (hitting reflector in the front and lens in the back).

Also, as long as I go with a radial bulb (5smt) the light throw should be similar to stock and the light is being projected in all directions vs only one direction with a single smt forward throwing bulb.

Ideas?

Ok, this is my final list for my order..

Vanity Mirror Lights and Front Dome Lights

6 led Flank
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168709.html

Rear Dome/Front Door Lights

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...-p4481039.html

Glove Box/Center Console Light

74 3 SMT Led
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/G...-p6298403.html

Trunk Light

30 SMT Led Panel
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168718.html

License Plate Light

5k High Power SMT
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...-p7114849.html

Reverse Lights

High Power 14 smt Tower
http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/P...-p5682764.html

All bulbs except for the license plate bulb are 6k. The original plate bulb I bought is 5k but I am considering moving it to 6k just so it matches everything else but at the same time I really do like the 5k crisp white look.

Opinions?

Here is what I am using in my vanities:http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/C...-p4481039.html
I wanted white in those for the mirrors--my gf would kill me if she didnt have white light to check herself with. Turns out, those bulbs are pretty white. She wants the OEM ones put back in. I tell her there is no going back.

EDIT: Just realized we picked the exact same bulb for the rear domes---DOH!

Ok sounds good. What do you think of the reverse light? I saw you posted somewhere else that you found it a bit dim? I am tempted to get the 8w ones but I'm not sure if that will draw too much power vs stock. Any idea what the stock bulbs draw wattage wise?

Also, do you think I should go 5k or 6k for the license plate bulbs? I was gung ho for the 5k but now that I think about it I might want 6k just to match everything else.

5K to 6K is really not that much of a difference in color. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I am dissatisfied with my LED reverse light, but I'm ditching LEDs altogether and going with HIDs for those. No more disappointments there.

I just stumbled on your post.
Ironically enough I just placed an order too!

On my own I studied the openings in both my car and my gf's 08 accord and ended up at $71 bucks shipped (use miata or acurazine as your code for a discount)
I was going to go with the panels but my friend has them and you can see the shape of the board when it lights up. I'd rather keep the wedge shaped bulb and have the brigher light reflected into the car rather than a spotlight of LED. About going taller...there ain't much room for the wedge...stick with the shorter one.

I opted to skip out on vanity, glove and center console as those are lights I see infrequently and aren't noticeable when locking and unlocking the car etc...or when the doors are open.

I did the white 6 LED wedges...4 pairs...2 for the front 2 for rear...2 for front doors...1 for trunk (and 1 for my gf's trunk)
$6.99/pair
For the reverse I did the 9 LED wedges...they point back anyway which is the way you want the light to shine so hopefully it'll be brighter...
$9.99/pair.

Lemme know what you think.

Sounds good I think I'll go 6k. I wish I could find a review on the 8w reverse bulb though....

Not yet. Still debating about my reverse light situation. Thinking 3w, 8w, leaving it stock, or HID...

All of these LEDs get outdated very quickly as new units are produced---its just the nature of the business. I say get the 8W and be the first to write a review. I would be interested to hear your opinion of it.

Yeah, thats the nature of the beast that is modern electronics. I suppose if I'm going to try a led reverse light whats 10 extra in the big scheme of things. With the bulb though is 8watts more or less current draw than stock? I want to say the stock bulb is 12v 18w but I'm not sure. If its less then I'll place my order tonight and hopefully have it by the weekend.

The manual has been less than helpful.

Any ideas? I can't seem to find a definite wattage for the stock bulb. Aftermarkets range from 12.8-18w.

I think I'll be fine though so I just placed my order for the 8w 921 smt lights.

Ok. Order placed. I'll be sure to do a review of the reverse lights when my shipment arrives. Now i need to decide if I want to get a set of replacement bulbs or just a refund for the faulty license plate bulbs I got with my first order.

Oh, btw I stuck with 5k for the plate bulbs even though the reverse lamps are 6k.

They're not going to be on at the same time for very long.
$10 isn't alot but when you ad it all up and the fact that you need 2 bulbs for everything it can make it pricey!
Maybe I'll regret being cheap in the future. Wish me luck!

Trust me... I know. I spent $128 with them on this order.. not including the $15 from my first order for the plate bulbs I bought the first time around. I'll get $10 refunded when I return the flickering bulbs but that still means I've spent $133 on leds!

Oh, and I just bought a set of Hoen Endurance (yellow) fog lamps which just cost me another $48 shipped.

Its the little things that get you when it comes to modding cars. $25 here $50 there and before you know it you're out a grand in just little things like bulbs, detail supplies, wipers, tint, etc!! At the same time its the little things that really make the car.

I can agree with that!
Well, I was trying to outfit my gf's and my car at the same time for a budget so I ended up at $71 shipped for most of the important interior lights and the trunk and reverse. I'll cross my fingers that it works out for me!

Yeah, be sure to post a review of the bulbs you got. I'm curious to see how they worked out for you. The bulbs I picked, while a bit more expensive are for the most part all tried and true bulbs for our car. In your case the only one I'd really worry about is the reverse led you bought.

Yes, all of these bulbs should work on all 04-08 tl's. The differences between the different years is the TL and TL Type S use different turn signal bulbs (not listed here anyway), and the 04-06 and 07-08 use different fogs/drl (double check though!)

The interior bulbs and plate/reverse bulbs are the same in all 04-08 though.

Ok guys I just went outside and took a quick video of the leds for you all. A few things to note. The camera makes the interior look a bit brighter than it is. I didn't show the glove box and center console bulbs but if they is a demand I can get a quick vid of those. I also didn't get to install my trunk 30led panel as v-leds forgot to send the adaptors along with my order.

No tint yet. Still trying to find a shop that will do it right. The view at night is good. Far as I can tell its brighter than stock by a bit but I really need to use them in places other than my driveway. Its also very hard to capture how bright the lights are with a camera especially in a low light situation with multiple sources of bright lights in very close proximity to each other.

The tint place across the street from my job hooked up my car. They did it really nice too. Moleskin and no bubbles at all. They only charged me $150. I don't know how far Rockland County is but if you need a good place let me know. That's all they do in that shop.

Looks very good.
Got mine and installed in my GF's and my car on Saturday. My review of mine...
Interiors on mine...PERFECT...not too bright not too dark and has the nice cool white hue to it...very soothing and futuristic looking IMO. I got the same 6LED bulbs for all 4 dome and courtesy door and it looks great.
Reverse...doesn't look as bright as yours, but for the price, I'm happy with it. After seeing yours, I'm almost convinced you're better off going with HID's if your goal is to light up the rear while backing for safety sake. Mine is probably as bright as stock, but hard to see because of the dark tints. It def. looks cool and now all visible light on my car are either HID or LED.

For $70...to have been able to outfit my car AND my gf's accord, I'm more than happy with the results.

If "acurazine" doesn't work (it said I had already used it for some reason) you can use "miata" and that worked for me.

Thats really good to hear. You should take some pics and post them up!

Great vid. The 8W definitely look brighter than my 3W. But again, they just don't seem to throw as much light as one would expect. Looking at the lights from outside is one thing. Using the light they cast to see behind the car is a completely different thing.
My ex lives on a farm and it is very dark when I pick up the kids from her house. The LEDs just don't cut through my tints enough to safely back up---even with the rear view camera.
HIDs will be my next functional mod, fer sure. Plus, I figure I can do it all for <$75 or so---about the same as a quality set of LEDs.

I just got the TL tinted tonight. 35% all around. I will give a bit of a review after I have a chance to drive around with the tint some more.. when its not raining. As for HIDs.. they are the best bang for the buck but not something I wanted to do at the moment.

Yes, they pop right in just like any other replacement bulb. The trunk liner comes off with a 11 clips and 1 screw (in the trunk hand cup). You could possibly just take off a couple clips and slide your hand in there but I find it far easier to just pull the whole liner out since it takes all of 3 minutes more.

What is everyone's opinion on the interior LED's, blue or the HID white? Blue would match the blue factory LED's on the upper console near the sun roof controls.

^^Its a matter of personal preference. I went the blue route, but others prefer the clear bright white. My GF has an 06 Accord in red and she wanted the red lights in hers---it looks great! I would also like to see the UV (purple) lights in action some time.

Search for "Led Reverse Lights" there is a thread in the 3g section that goes into detail about it.
