Took a Charger R/T Daytona( i belive its a HEMI)

I was cruizin down the 5 South twoard Van Nuys goin around 75 and I see a yellow charger daytona creeping up on me. Now usually I dont like it when people go faster than me, so soon as he came next to me I gunned it and so did he. Now we went back and forth untill we kinda figured if we want to do this we have to line up to make it fair. I took him by a good half a car, I was very surprised a V8 is supposed to spank a V6 at those speeds but my TL-S held up pretty well.

It's a good race with my base TL and the smaller Hemi from a roll. Watch out for the big one though.

It does!!!! lol So I dont know what happened there. But I will tell you this. My cuzin also has a TL-S and he told me that he took one also. I didnt belive him, I was like there is no way. So when that Charger came I was curious to see what would happen. And what do you know, he was tellling the truth.

hmm what kind of mods you have because it is very unlikely. I drove one of those things and also a TL-S....The TL-S has no chance.

Do you have a 5A/T or 6MT

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Charger SRT? That one's a mid 13 car.

The RT is a 14.2-14.4 second car. The only 3rd gen TL that might not be competitive is a base 5AT.

my thoughts exactly.

A TL-S 6MT should pull top end. Those RT's trap in the higher 90's and don't have the best gearing. Its off the line where those RT's fly.

Ya off the line he got the jump on me but as soon as I hit 2nd I started gaining on him and then when I shifted to 3rd I started to pull. I have the TLS 5AT.

Nice Kill

And I believe you because I had a quick and dirty run in with one as well. I was slowly pulling on him and sort of expected it to be a close run either way.

something does not add up here

4100 lbs car with 390 hp should without a doubt be faster than a than a 3600lbs 286HP car............

edmunds (a very conservative site when it comes to #s) states 6.1 to 60 and a 14.5 quarter........either those guys didn't know how to drive or they were doing it wrong........

As noted in various posts over the many years . . . you cannot simply look at weight and HP and come to an absolute response . . . there are way too many other factors that come in to the over all result of what is faster . . . this is coming from years experience as a former mechanic, engine builder, hot rodder and drag racer. If it were that simple, we wouldn't need to race to see who is faster . . . you could just hand the guy your car rag article and or dyno sheet and be over with it.

Very true. You seem to find more of this on the import boards than domestic boards...
