TLS foglight question

Hi
I am about to upgrade the foglights to HIDs
I understand that the foglight on 07 TLs are 35Ws.. HID uses 35W, but uses 65W to start up.

Will this damage my wires? or are they capable of handling 65W?

Thanks in advance!

Gabriel

you'll probably need to add converter or change the wires, the HID will most likely eat through the wires

thanks blazinginder.
I wanted to make sure... there's one set of HIDs sitting in my garage.
Too bad I can't use it. =(

You may want to get more opinions on this...I could be wrong....I just know that when I wanted to replace my headlight unit on my Mercedes ML with a HID unit, MB dealer said I couldn't just swap out the units but would also have to have rewiring done to handle that high startup output the HID's required...but more recently they've come out with converters so you don't have to replace all the wiring, instead just use the converter to bridge the HID to the existing wiring
(apologize about the lengthy/confusing explanation)

You will need a ballast and starter for each bulb. (most ballasts sold now have the starters built in, but you need to check)

The best way to go is simply to buy a conversion kit that will provide the appropriate bulb, ballast, ignitor (starter), and wiring.

I have done many of these with no problems.

NOW, be warned

If you have problems this will voide the warranty related to those lights, and any of the wiring for them.

Just get a HID harness from xenondepot and this way you will be drawing power directly from the battery, so that you won't burn your wires. This how I've done all my HID setups for the same exact reason for initial power draw.
