TL Typhoon Complete Cold Air Kit

FYI. I found a someone that will sell the Typhoon Kit (available in 4 colors) for $250 with free shipping. This kit can be configured as a CAI or a Short Ram (for winter months) Is this a good price?

A few questions for the people who have this installed in their TL:
Is it worth it?
How loud does it sound? Could someone please post a sound clip?
How hard is the install?
Can it be installed without removing the Bumper or fenders?
Anyone have Dyno test results?

I have a drop in K&N filter ($38 - Model 33-2078) on order but how much better performance can I expect from the Typhoon Kit?

Thanks in advance.

Do a search on this subject (CAI) as it has been discussed on may threads. I know AEM and Injen has, and I believe a there are a few posts on the K&N.

Yeah, search for Typhoon. That crazy dude Salut was one of the first and his car is what K&N used for the Test fitting before releasing the product.

Last I checked, K & N still does not have a part number for the 04 TL. They dropped it after several compaints regarding fit.

The K& N is not CARB approved. I guess it will not pass smog inspection in California.

I do have the first production kit... Installed for free so I don't know the kit price or install price (sorry) $250 for the kit seems fair...

I love it...

I do not own, have not owned, or know anything about the AEM or Injen... A lot of ppl here swear by them... (It ain't polite to swear to God - What movie? - guess)

Answer: Cowboy way. But I digress... Maybe this is why Casper thinks I'm crazy...???
... Oh wait I know...

The way I drive... that's right.

Sorry Xtian04TL here we go again...
I do not have a sound clip...
It sounds throatier for sure... You get a little of the "Sucking" sound everytime you depress the accelerator...

Bottom line I love it... The performance you get is minimal, a few actual HP to the wheels but I personally feel it... the car is quicker, the throttle is crisper and more responsive throughout the powerband...

Good luck bud...

Salut

That is correct not CARB approved yet... Last I heard they were working on that...

But how soon are you going to have to get it smogged... It's a new car... should be at least two years...

They should get the kinks worked out by then...

Salut

I'm going to go ahead and order one for my Silver/Quartz 5AT. Now I just need to decide what color to get it in. I've narrowed it down to silver or polished. What do you guys think?

Here's some good info. from K&N:

http://www.knfilterchargers.com/sear...Prod=69-0021TS

Specifically on that page, here's some dyno results:

http://www.kandn.com/dynocharts/69-0021.jpg

It shows a 6.8HP boost at 5501 RPMs. So like Salut said, it's only a couple HP difference, but you may still notice it.
