STOP using regular. You're killing your car. Theres a reason the manual as well as the fuel door says premium only. The engine requires 91 octane or higher. Do not run anything less unless you want your car to die.

Pinging is definitely a big possibility. Getting misfire codes is another big possibility. The engine was designed to take premium gasoline (91+ octane). You don't have to, but then again you also reap the results, such as what you and I have mentioned. One thing is for sure: you WILL NOT get the same performance from running regular unleaded as you will when you run premium unleaded. (So why would ANYONE want to run less than premium?) You will save $3 per tank, AT THE MOST.

Why spend the extra money on the intake when you should be putting the top dollar stuff in the tank at every fill up. If you want your car to performe, put the good shit in it.

Using regular is really false economy anyway .. the ECU will just retard everything and you get less performance and less milage.

And the point I'm going to make is if you can't afford premium then sell the car and buy one you can afford.

I'm amazed at how many buy a car that clearly states use premium then come into the forums and ask what to use.

And I see it in all the forums I go to. Not just this one.

Save your money. It's a POS $37,000 car anyhow. Who cares if you get bad mileage, low power and F up the engine. At least you'll be able to afford a couple extra latte's every week.

From experience....USE PREMIUM. I got my Type S on New Years Day and I asked the guys at the dealership about what fuel to use. They said I could get away with using Mid Grade fuel. So I tried it and experienced less than satisfactory results. I went back to premium grade fuel and the car was back to normal. It drove better, acceleration was back to it's usual aggresiveness. Your Type S is a hybrid-you have to treat it as such.

Use premium. There are countless times this topic has been discussed. If you wish, you can do a search and get even more detailed answers.
