TL Torque Steer

Just bought an 04 6mt and been driving it around . I noticed the torque steer is pretty extreme. I thought the LSD would help even though it doesn't have a torque converter. Are these just torque steer monsters? Granted I've been driving Awd and rwd for the past 7 years, it just feels excessive. I had a 04 6mt accord v6 7 years ago and don't remember it being that bad. Anything to help minimize it?

Also why is it so hard to start off smoothly from a stand still . There seem to be a hesistation no matter how hard I try to drive smoothly from a start.

Sounds like I am complaining a lot but I really like the car!

Torque steer can be pretty bad on the TL. It's not so much that they're torque monsters, but that FWD is just terrible at handling it.

To minimize it, drive like a granny.

It's a FWD car, what do you expect?

Torque steer is only most noticeable on 6MT Base/Type S, all conditions remaining stock.

Torque steer on these is pretty manageable IMO. Maybe good tires help make the difference? The TL 6mt is a very difficult manual to finesse and starting is usually never perfectly smooth. I have had 6mt Type S for years and I still always have to concentrate driving it for the most part lol.

Remove the check delay valve from your slave cylinder.

THIS X 100!!!
I couldn't drive my 06 6mt with any kind of "touch" either until I removed that damn CHECK VALVE.

What a difference

I have michellin super sports so I think thats overkill for this car. They are great dry pavement tires with tons of grip. I thought that made the tq steer worst.

Ill definitely look more into the check valves. I thought it had more to do with 2-6 gears where it eliminate the slight delay of engagement in shifts 2-6 but not 0-1.

No, the big delay/slippage is in a full power 1st gear launch. That is when you will smell roasted clutch. As you go on up, it isn't as big an issue.
Plus that check valve just takes away the feel for the clutch engagement.

FYI, torque steer in a FWD car is not caused by having a torque converter (on auto tranny models) Torque steer is caused by the power being applied to ground by the front wheels.

As you can see your 6-speed MT, even with the LSD, has plenty of torque steer, even more than a 5-speed auto model because the 6MT is putting more HP to the wheels.

The 6MT TLs try to minimize torque steer with the VSA/Traction Control system by limiting the power some. If you really want things to get exciting, try some standing & rolling full power punches with the VSA turned off-on a wide & open safe area....
