TL-S Worth $2500 extra?
I went to the Acura dealer intending to test drive the 07 WDP TL w/ nav. As I was talking to the salesman he tried to up-sale me to the TL-S (Most likely because they did not have the car I wanted in stock). It is only about $2500 more then the basic TL. I tried searching the forums for answers, but I had no real good answer. My question is whether the TL-S really worth the extra $2500 or should i stick to the basic TL.

YES... YES... and YES....
Bigger engine, more power, unique styling ques, better resale, more features, etc...
It's more than worth the $2500 difference...

Agreed - I came from an '05 TL that I dearly loved, and I have to say that the TL-S is even more amazing! It really hugs the road on curves and the interior is a thing of beauty.

the engine upgrade + front and rear light units itself are worth the $2500...that doesn't even get into the two-tone interior (assuming you use your senses ang get the black interior) or the wheels etc.

Ummm yeah, navi, rear view camera , sick looking steering wheel, interior gorgeous , exhaust tone is addicting..well worth the extra $2500 and big difference in power too..

Things To Consider On The Flip Side To Everyone Here Telling You To Spend the Extra $$$.........
- No one here mentioned the fact that the Type-S uses slightly more gas.
$4/gal for premium isn't that far off folks!
- Brembo brakes as good as they are cost more to replace and dust out (blacken) the wheels.
- The chief mechanic at Acura of Manhattan told me they're getting lots of complaints about the 'noisy' suspension on the new Type-S.
- I personally prefer the blue instrumentation to the red.
The one thing the Type-S does have that I'd want is the noise cancelling system. If you get the regular TL, you can always replace the rear stabilizer bar and upgrade the brake pads to the A-Specs. Take your time in making your decision and consider ALL the pluses and minuses on both sides of the coin, and NEVER let a salesman railroad you into signing a deal just because it's what he has on the lot to sell. There may even be a difference in insurance rates between the regular TL and the Type-S.
For me, 0-60 in roughly 6 seconds is fast enough.

I swear you guys are like fodder for salesmen. What's the total price we're talking about here? If they marked up the basic TL like crazy then only '$2500' more is just a gimmick that you, and everybody else posting above, would fall for.

Thanks for your input guys. the $2500 is just an estimate off the MSRP price, so it could be a little more or even a little less.
The only thing that worries me now is a few points that Wyman & DMZ mentioned.
1. Since my GF will be driving the car too, I am going to have to sell her on a stiffer ride (which she already despises the fact that I want to lower the car). She really likes the MDX for the feel of the ride, but that is almost $10k more then the basic TL that I had my eyes on. (I do have to make her happy since she is pitching in on the monthly payments)
2. "The chief mechanic at Acura of Manhattan told me they're getting lots of complaints about the 'noisy' suspension on the new Type-S." - Any TL-S owners have any input on this? is it really noticeable?

Very good and valid points by DMZ.
But the answer is still hell yeah!!!!! The type S comes with a lot of stuff other "modders" are paying for. SS pedals, floor lights, quad exhaust, different headlights, smoked chrome trim, lip spoiler, bigger brakes, sport tuned suspension, beefier RSB and most importantly the ONLY way to get a manual transmission.
It's all about what you really want... come to the dark side Luke; you won't be disappointed!

Oh, I almost forgot... and type S tail lights.
Also keep in mind that all of these little differences are warrantied items. This might not be important for everyone but it adds a little piece of mind.
