TL-S tails & side marker swap(Pics)

First off a huge thank you to sandiegodrive for the DIY removing rear bumper video. Saved me a bunch of time. And made me confident enough to do it myself. While I had the bumper off I cleaned behind it and got all the gunk out from 4 years of driving. Besides just chanign the lights I also polished my exhaust tips with my Mother's Powerball.. and since the bumper was off I cleaned it up very good as well, and repaired some scratches. Doing that gave me an idea to pop out the exhaust opening trim and clean them up and paint them with grey engine enamel and 3 coats of clear.. turned out very nice. Matches the grey of the a-spec front pretty well anyway thanks again to all at AZ for the inspiration. I have many more mods planned. Here's the pics.

no not really.. by far the hardest part of it was removing the bumper and putting it back on, and that really wasn't that bad. If you just get the lenses you have to transfer the LED panel and blinker bulb of course, but that was easy too. Hardest part of that was fishing the little wire harness through the new lenses. I meant to take pics of that. You'll need to use a little screw driver or something to help getting that harness lined up and through the hole.
The rear side markers are cake. litterlly 10 seconds after you pull the panel back inside the trunk.

it's a subtle difference but definitly a big improvement, IMO.. I thinkn' next will be LED taglights, then A-Spec side skirts, then 1" drop and Koni yellow shocks, then A-Spec wheels..

Yeah - I have the TL-S markers now, but now the tail lights look a bit out of place as they are completely red and have no tie to the markers

Yeah I know what you are saying, it just didn't look quite right. Looked better with just the sides but not as complete without the S tails.

I was told by the dealer that the plugs for the TL-S side markers was too big to fit. I know i shouldn't listen to them since you and so many have them on. Just wondering if you had to do anything special?

navy, no modifications really. All you have to do is switch the LED boards which is pretty easy but the rest is basically take off and swap.

Priv..looks good

thanks.. ballin

and to NAVY TL

they are full of it.. it fits, just use a small tweeker scredriver or something similar to help you get it through the hole, you'lll understand what I mean once you take them off and have a look. it took me about 10 minutes to do the first one, then about 3 minutes to do the second one.

I'll take a picture of her ass tomorrow if I have time to spray her off.. :P and the rest of the changes.

still minus a small drop, because I want to do it right with new shocks. I bought this car with 80k on it.

How much did you pay for the side markers. Those would look great on grey which is what i have. Also what was entailed in that install?

TIA.

free they were a christmas present.. Bu tI tihnk I remember them being about 70 a piece. The install was probably the easiest thing i'll ever do, remove the cargo net tie downs on whichever side of the trunk, pull back enough to get your hand in there to reach the light, squeeze the tabs and they pop right out.

I researched them. They seem to be going for about $100 for the pair. I'll have to pick some up.

Thanks.

am I the only one who likes the 04-06 tails?

<------- Not a fan of the TL-s tails. I actually think the 07+ Base TL tailights look nicer.

good job on the install though.

I’m w/ you.

I think a lot of people want their car to look like it is the latest and greatest, by swapping the lights, but are sacrificing a little in the looks dept to do so.

I honestly like the solid red over the newer style. I’m gonna swap the side markers from red to smoked, but that’s it.

I think the dark chrome/silver on the WDP looks good; I do like the 04 - 06 tail lights, but I like the smoked rear side markers better.. and now that I have them the TL-S tails will look better because it will tie in with the side markers..

stolen from dragncivic:

The Sides/Tails from the TL-S look great!

I like the originals too, I just want it to to be a little different than most the TLs I see on the road(except the '07 TL-S's of course ).There is just something I like a little better about these, I think it's the side markers that tie in well. Latest and greatest would be the '08 base lights.. and I really don't like them..

I can't stand the TL-S stock wheels, some love 'em, I like the A-Spec 18s.. I'll probably end up with those eventually. Like the A-Spec sides but not the back. To each his/her own..
