tl recall questions

i checked myacura.com and searched my car by vin number and the power steering hose recall is still open and the wiper motor is still open my question is that will they still replace all that for free but my car is a rebuilt title will that effect it? and also it said the a/t recall was in it to but it said fixed but it still has problems, are they responsible to fix that also

certain safety recalls are honored even with salvage/rebuilt title
NOT ALL of them are still covered

Best to go in person and speak with the service MANAGER about it, thats who knows for sure.

OPEN means still needs fixing

The oil jet kit on the trans was done, but its different than the slipping problem many experience before total failure, (not covered)
or if you have a shudder during shifts it may need shift selenoids- DIY project

If they cant do the ps hose and wiper motor for free, they may be able to sell you the parts at less than retail price and you DIY

If it's a recall due to safety, I'm sure they will take care of it.

cant be sure of anything on salvage title cars- acura considers them Junked-

I know they lose the trans extended warranty (gen2) but does cover seatbelt retractor and latch issues that also had a special extended waranty 10/150 (gen2)

See your Service MANAGER for FACTS, we are guessing

recalls are only issued for SAFETY related issues- ignition switch shuts off engine while driving...etc

do you think toyota wanted to replace truck floor mats that ~may~ interfere with throttle, and now millions of gas pedals used in everything they made in the last decade!!, no - they were forced to by the govt because safety of passengers was involved = RECALL

some things are special extended warranty- acura or court case decided to do,
recalls are govt mandated and tracked,,you can look up any VIN and see if the recalls are done, you can look up any product from the last 20 years or so, and see if there are recalls on it!
stereos for the home that catch fire,,,that sort of thing

if you call the acura care 1-800 382 2238x5, register as owner and ask for recall ck,
if they say you are not covered due to salvage - ignore them- minimum wage phone person reads from `the great book of NO`
service manager has a lot more authority

im sorry, i just had to quote on this stupid quote.
I do work in the recall department for Honda/Acura's and .. we are nothing close to minimum wage.
... if you would do some research, the option #5 is the import/exporting you vehicle and mobility products. option #4 is the campaigns department = my department.
thank you have a nice day.

to the OP,
a recall is safety related, therefore the recall has to be completed.
a lot of customers get mixed up with warranty extensions, recalls, and product updates.

go take it to the Acura dealership and tell them that you have two open recalls.
Im sure they would gladly accept your vehicle.

dhong87, sorry about that. That's not the only "off the cuff, not factually based statement" made by him. Brush it off. I'm glad to have someone from Acura chime in with helpful information. Keep up the good posts. Thanks!

dont worry, i deal with worse "customers" than him on a daily basis. i.e. customers who want acura to pay for their transmission when they have 250k miles.
and they RAISE HELL. LOL

I have only dealt with the #5 people

First one was great- a retired tech who owned an acura and looked up all sorts of info on my new purchase

2 others were worthless as employees and reps of acura-

I believe they had no more than a file folder of info on each type car to look up answers to popular questions and say `you are past warranty and there is nothing to be done about it` what I call The Great Book of NO

the recall division - I would hope- has better employees with higher wages comensurate to their skills because they are handling real problems, not just taking a report and having a real acura manager call you back

What do your #5 people earn? anything less than $15 an hour may as well be 5.75

All employees should call their company and see how the phone system works- or doesnt
