$200 is the price of the high-performance tire option on the manual transmission model. Maybe you saw a price including that option?

Bridgestone Potenza RE030 summer only tires.

Contact patch is 0.8" larger (with same size tire) and uses sticky compound, with treadwear of 140 vs 260 (read, need to replace more often, but sticks like glue!)

there are better tires than the RE030, but they are are a big step up from the EL-42's

Bridgestone's website lists the treadlife of the EL42 at 140 for the TL application. It's 260 for some other EL42 models (Infinity G35, Chrysler minivans, non run-flat BMW 7 series), and even 300 for a few sizes (Altima). The rating is also 140 for 7 series run-flats. So it looks like the TL application might have a stickier, softer tread compound than other EL42's. The EL42 name appears to mean next to nothing, other than an OEM tire with certain characteristics (all-season, with similar tread designs?)

I ever saw Yoko and Continental tires as the options in dealers.
