I don't bother with this thread any more.

Certainly no offense to anyone, but in the 2¼ years I've been a member of this forum, I and other long/old time members have seen a continuously gradual decline in both the IQ and maturity levels put on display here. Back around the time of the 3G TL's introduction 2 years ago, not only were there far fewer members, but on the overall average, you could go through a vast majority of the posts and become entertained and enlightened. Unfortunately, the opposite now holds true. I'm still here because I love my TL and can constructively contribute or occassionally learn something.

Just compare a 270hp TL and a 265HP Maxima, find stock dyno graphs, rescale them and lay them on top of each other.... the maxima has 10-20-hp almost all the way up until the TL gets to 5800 or something like that.... and the alternate testing method... i think i read it only made a difference on the vette of ~5hp or something.

Just compare a 258hp TL and a 265HP Maxima ...

Not a surprise but it is a scam. The AUTO TL HAS NEVER made 270 hp on any scale.

Yes!!! They are still making money on 270 ... Just saw commercial.
I don't care how good this car is, many other cars as good as TL. I care that they should stop publishing 270 everywhere and send me apology letter stated that mine care downgraded.

Your car was NOT downgraded. It will still put the same HP/TQ to the pavement as it did when it was rated at 270hp. The 258hp is just a recalculation - it hasn't made the car any less powerful.

They are still advertising 270hp because it's still the 2005 model shown on TV. When the 2006s are advertised, it will then be 258.

Acura does not owe you an apology. They did not send anyone to your house to collect 12 horsepower from your car. It's every bit as quick as it was the day you bought it. The measuring of HP has changed, the J32A3 is the same.

If the SAE revision had meant that horsepower was added, I can't help but wonder if some of the members on here would automatically assume that their cars were faster the day the revisions came out.

All these threads on this would make you believe they'd revised the ruler, and without changing ruler size, they'd made one foot equal 15 inches. Suddenly, your penis is 3 inches shorter. I suppose that would automatically make you less able in the sack? Well, the revision of horsepower didn't make your TL less capable at the dragstrip.

Edit: I guess I should try being clever after I get fully awake. I meant the revised ruler would be 9 inches, not 15.

This thread is getting more retarded by the day.

Listen, here's the moral of the story.

Industry wide, the method of calculation has changed.

Acura has quickly (and quite appropriately) adopted this new method. As a result, we've seen a 12BHP loss ON PAPER.

When other manufacturers adopt these new methods, you will see similar methods.

If anything, you should be happy that Acura is being honest here. I don't understand how you can rake them over the calls yet praise Infiniti who is STILL "LYING" TO YOU (using your logic) about the power in their cars.

At the end of the day, the only thing that's new here is some numbers on paper. It's still the same car, and when they were telling you it put out 270BHP you thought it was plenty fast. Now that they're saying 258 you think, somehow, it's not the same car.

I think we've seen enough of this thread, no? Yeah.
