Talking TL is Gone ... Saying Goodbye... (semi long)

First and formost this has been a great forum, I will probably pop in from time to time. As auto forums go this has been the best I've ever seen, well run, good posts, helpful members, GREAT paticipation!

Now for the real post...

I had decided to replace my 04 A/T with a M/T. The dealer (Bell Acura in north Phoenix) where I had bought the 04 had a 6M/T in WDP. I discussed the situtation with the sales manager (Mack) and he said we were about 6k difference, so I decided to look. When I got there he comes back with 9500, then 9K and finally lowers this to 8k. So, I state that any deal would be subject to them swapping the A-Spec suspension from my 04 to the 05. He says he'll look into it, and says 1200 more. I explained that this is 3-4 hours of work and there charging me 400.00 per hour of shop time, and he says he'll look in to it some more. I should add that all this time this guy acts like he couldn't care less if I was a prevoius customer and that he's doing me a favor by talking to me. Well this is great (and you may be wondering why). Down the road the Infiniti dealer "fully understands the meaning of YEAR-END CLEARANCE", and thanks to Mack's unwilling to deal and treatment of a previous customer, I am now the owner of a G35 6M/T sedan w/ the premium, sport and areo package 298hp 18" wheels, BOSE audio, RWD. Infinititi got this "out the door - all fees etc, w/ LEX clear bra, and put 1k cash in my pocket (I'd like some HP Summer Tires) for the TL (which was paid off) and 9K financed @ 1.9%. My gain, Acura's loss.

I'll post my interpertation of the the differences between the 2 later. Thanks to all who have posted or replied to mine. Special thanks to Adobeman for the ability to create the DVD-A disks.

Happy Motoring to all... (stolen from Exxon before the captain got drunk, crashed the tanker, war occured and gas wen to $3.00 a gallon jk )

take it easy.....

I hope you popped back in to show Mack what you ended up buying instead. Sometimes, it helps to hit them over the head with just how dumb they are.

On my list of things to do on Friday. I must take the title to Infiniti, and swing by a visit to see the general mgr of the Acura dealership.

Thanks

Congrats!

I almost bought the G-35 Sedan.

The back seat seemed alot smaller though and I have 3 kids.
Test drove both. The G-35 with the RWD was an awesome ride, but ultimately
i chose the TL cuz of the design, both Interior and Exterior.

I also went to back and forth from the Infinti dealer across the street to the Acura dealer. I noticed even then that Infinti had more cars available and were willing to deal more, whereas ACURA had to order certain colors and were pretty firm on the Price.

Both cars are great.

I hoe you enjoy it.

you should do what i did,
after my dealer was trying to screw me over for my pilot, i head out to another honda dealer like 3 miles away and get a real good deal on it
so after i pick up my pilot, i run into the stealership and yell as loud as i can saying that the other dealer has better deals and this one is ripping you off
i also had a brand new pilot to show i wasnt crazy

i saw about 5 out of the 9 customers there walk out.

LOVED the face on the salesman

Based on your experience I can not blame you for getting the Infinity. However, I must say that the G35 sedan is a beast to look at . At least you have rear wheel drive. Good Luck!

Are the A Spec suspension pieces the same for the AT and MT? Additionally, from the dealer's perspective, what was he supposed to do with your used AT that was now without shocks and springs? Install the suuspension from the new MT onto your used AT (probably not the right thing to do for the next buyer of the used TL) or look for some take offs from another AT? While it would have been nice if the dealer had been more accomodating, you were asking him to jump through some hoops to close the deal. Just some thoughts. Best of luck with the G35.

Congrats!

CMT1 - Congrats on your new purchase; those are great cars! I have two friends who both have the G35 coupe in red and they swear by it. IMO - the only things that are missing are a lot of the little luxeries that Acura offers. But, if you're concerned about performance over luxery than you've about hit the jackpot. Just my

The Acura dealer that I deal with is "upp-ity"; I think only because it sits literally beside their Honda dealership (same owner). The very first time I went to test drive the TL, the salesman had the nerve to say to me, "I used to work for Honda, now I work for Acura. I love the Acura, but I can't afford it so my wife and I still drive Honda's"...Well, okay - that's his problem not mine....does this idiot want to sell a car or not? Anyway - long story short....his tune changed once he knew my salary and that I could easily afford it - it's a bitch (no pun) to a woman these days! LOL.

Regardless - have a great time with your new car high!

congrats on the infiniti.

when i did my purchase for the TL, it was long and hard to bargain with them. I see it this way. Its a honda product and they don't have to bargain the way we want, cause most likely one of the next 5 people that come into the showroom will buy the car at a higher rate.

in regards to nissan products, i will never buy them again. I've owned infiniti products and recently just sold the 350z and the g35coupe.

I can't stand nissan any more.

But the pricings and deals with nissan products are so much better.

That is why you see 1.9% rates and cash back rewards.

Honda knows they will sell their product sooner or later.

Good luck brotha and enjoy.

Good Point, I should have mention I had ALL the original suspension in the trunk of the TL (struts and RSB). All he would have had to do is install the original on the original, and the A-Spec on the new TL. As for the question if the part are the same, essentally yes. I had 6MT A-Spec on my AT as the MT is lighter than the AT it is a little more comfy that way. There are some thread pertainging to this or check w/ Scott @ Falconi Acura in Las Vegas.
