WHT04TL....yes some dealers will cover buttprints under warranty. If you push the dealer, they also might switch out the covers with the 05 style to eliminate the problem in the future. I've got the same issues with my '04TL, and my local dealer has agreed to swap my seats with the '05 style covers. I've been putting off getting it done over the winter, but they ordered the covers last week, and I will be getting them changed as soon as I can get the car to the dealer for a few days. It's a big job and I believe they have to remove both seats to do the change so I'm a little paranoid about how it's going to come out. Others have had problems with scraches during the change, but some people have had the job done and said it's perfect...we'll see with my car. I'll post my results as soon as I get the job completed.

acura obviously acknowledged the problem since they made the seats different in the 05. the problem usually occurs with TL drivers with skinny butts. like me. im about 6'5" and weigh 150. the butt prints on my '04 seats are bad
you can try to take it to a dealer, but good luck in gettin em replaced
and if you do get em replaced... its still gonab the same problem....
AND do you want leather seats that arent from factory? they could come out a slightly different shade of color

That said, it is thirsty skin. Over the course of a year, I have used almost a full bottle of Zaino "Leather in a Bottle". I put it on immediately after I picked up my car and the leather drank it up. I reapply about once every 6-8 weeks. It keeps the leather soft and pliable and seems to prevent wrinkles and butt prints to a great extent.
TL's have a higher grade of soft leather than some other cars that use the course, bumpy pig-skin looking stuff. Many luxury cars offer the TL style leather only as an option over their standard fare.
For the soft, perforated, glove leather, we pay a price. It is more flexible and conforms to the shape of what is sitting on it. That is comfortable. If the leather is conditioned and the weather is warm, it should go back to shape after a while.
I remember watching a recent Corbin Saddle commercial on the speed channel. Mr. Corbin was explaining how they make their luxury after-market motorcycle saddles. He said that they use a dense-cell foam and a soft pliable leather so that it will take the shape of a person's butt and conform to it.
For them, it is a selling point (butt prints), not a source of complaints.
So, IMHO, this is another compromise between comfort and esthetics. Form follows function.
