Is the TL battery tray......

the same as the TSX battery tray ?

I believe they are. When I traded my TSX in for the TL-S the sales rep allowed me to swap batteries. I had a Optima Yellowtop in the TSX and I knew how bad the Acura batteries were. The battery from the TL-S fit perfect. Hope this helps.
