TL Battery Life: How Long?

I didn't even bother with the OEM battery. The very day I bought my 08 TL-S I took it around into the back of the dealership and traded the battery with the one I had in my 04 TSX. It was an Optima yellowtop. I just didn't want to deal with a known issue.

I think battery life depends on many factors, with heat , in my opinion, being the strongest factor.
in my previous cars, in two years time I replace the battery, regardless if it still started fine. two were in an Evo and the underhood temps got really hot.
in the 6 years I've owned this, Acura has replaced the OEM battery 2x. the original battery lasted about 3 years. the second one about 2.5 years. I just got a new battery over the weekend and plan to swap it within the next 2 years.

My TL's Acura battery was approaching 3 years and after reading about other owners' experiences and the cold Iowa winter coming up, I was not going to gamble anymore.
I went over to Interstate Batteries and got a 5-year one for $122. Hopefully this is the last battery I will ever have to buy for this car.

Just replaced the OEM in wife's 2006, at 99,000 miles. Good life for the original in cold Colorado climate. I went with the Costco battery that others on here suggested. Hard to beat at $70, after core exchange refund.

My experience shows batteries in this car last 3½ years on average.
1st replacement was with the Yellow Everstart MAXX from Walmart which started to go South at age 3 years.
2nd replacement was the Autocraft Gold from Advance Auto Parts a year and a half ago. Paid a lot less than the currently posted price. Works great!

Just had to replace the battery in my 06 5AT Monday. Took it to the dealer for servicing, they noted some corrosion on the battery terminal so they cleaned that off. After about a half day of driving I had to jump the car to get it to go anywhere.
Took it back to the dealership and it was dead. Glad it was just the battery and not the alternator. Too bad I didn't have the previous owner's service records, the battery was only 2 years old and would have been a warranty replacement.

Which means mine will probably die this winter. ![Frown](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Of course that assumes the dealer replaced it when they did the CPO check.....which doesn't make a lot of sense so there is a chance I am running on the original battery in my '05.
