TL 6spd parked next to '08 Expedition
Sold my 2002 Explorer 4X4 & replaced it with a new Expedition EL 4X4.
Interesting how the big truck compares to the entry level luxury car feature wise & how the definition of luxury in cars is getting blurred.
Both have moon roofs, duel side auto air/heat, full radio stack with sat radio, 6 speed trans (manual in the TL - auto in the EL) Limited slip differentials, leather interiors, front & rear independent suspensions, rack & pinion steering, 2X memory seats etc, self dimming rear view mirror, rear view camera, TPMS, stability etc control, MP-3/I-pod capability, hands free Bluetooth phone, reverse sensing system, full coverage airbags, interior air filtration, MID, full steering wheel controls (including A/C on the EL) & turn signals in the outside mirrors.
Stuff that is different. The TL has HID lights while the EL has auto turn on/off regular lights. The EL also costs a lot more, has a compass, heated & cooled front 10 way & second row buckets, third row is 60/40 power folding, power adjustable pedals, P275/55/20 all season tires, power lift gate, rear seat DVD/game system & separate independent heating/cooling/radio controls for the rear seats.
With only 300hp pulling 2 & a half tons the TL is quicker, faster, handles better & get way better gas mileage & of course it also looks so much much better.

That being said there was, to me, a surprisingly big difference between the Explorer & the EL. The TL looks very little sitting there.

Another thing the EL has the TL doesn't have is torque.

Yes, the A/C system functions exactly the same as the TL with dual mode + it has and additional function with seprate climate settings for the back seats controlled either from the front seat or from the back seats.
It has plenty of torque, 365ft/lb, but no torque steer Its normally 2 wheel RWD but has on the move setting for 4WD-Auto, 4WD-High range.
4WD-Low range requires that you be stopped & in neutral before you can engage it.

Thats what I was thinking. The Expedition is loaded, but I bet it wasn't cheap.
Kind of like a BIG Luxury SUV.
Hope the e-brake is engaged; it looks like it could roll right over that bimmer and hardly notice the bump.

Your right it was the most expensive of the 4. When I took some time to think about it I started this thread where I said how the definition of luxury in cars is getting blurred.
The TL's interior is the most refined of the bunch but overall feature for feature the truck has everything the two cars do plus a few they don't, like when you shut it down the memory seat slides back to let you out easier.
The 6 speed AT is something I did not expect since you generally only see them in high end cars but it is really a great addition since the Mustang GT motor is pulling a lot of weight (6155lbs) around in this application.

The gray or gray like color was kind of a fluke.
Because its built on the F-150/250 pickup chassis you are pretty limited to what colors you can choose. That is further narrowed down by which model you get as all colors are not available in all models. Beside the Silver it was available in White, Black, Blue, Dark Green & Dark Red.
I have already had Explores in Blue & Dark Red. We are in drought conditions here & you can't wash your car because some busy body will turn you in, so I could not go with something that shows the dirt to bad.
Also its color is called "Vapor Silver" & the truck was in the shade when I took the picture. The paint has a very high metallic content which shows up better in the sun.
