FWIW, I got a new TL this week and the tires are 07/04 ie 7th week of 04. Given that people with late 03 ELs are not having vibration problems, I am pretty confident that the latest vehicles are shipping with the latest version of the tires.
I hope this helps!

Now that I have lost all faith in Honda, I find it amazing that while they are shipping a new version of the tire, they continue to deny the problem to those of us who bring it in and report it. Seems a little odd. But hell, that's life in greed.

My tires are 0304 and I took delivery of my car last week but it has been in the dealers hands since early March. I have not had any vibration or flatspotting. The treadwear rating is 260 which I gather is a significant improvement over the 140 rating for the original OEM tires.

Isn't the issue there with your dealer and not with Honda directly?

I just got the replacements yesterday. Seemed to be no flatspotting this morning and ride seems to be a tiny bit softer (and better) - could be my imagination. They are definitely "recompounded" EL 42s. Service Mgr. said ALL new TLs have the new tires.

Actually, I got the similar answers from my stupid dealer...

I think ppl just like to find out how "new" EL42s will have less problems. We know tires after 0704 would be good. How's about tires between 0104 and 0604? They could be good... 4603-5203, may be ok?
Acura doesn't want to disclose the news to us, when did Bridgestone start to produce the new design EL42 tires?

I looked at my new EL42's, and I think you can use the DOT code to determine which tires are new. These are the codes:
New: 0B6N TU2 Old: 0B6N PVC
Tirerack told me that any changes must be recertified with the DOT, so they would then get a new DOT number. Not positive, but this should be the way to tell.
If someone has the new code and a build date before 0804, let us know and we can use that to determine the earliest build date for the new tires.

As a new member to the forum, I'm surprised by the issued raised with the tires. I bought my TL (my second, first was 2001) in November 03, and have 9000 mile already. Generally pushing 80+mph and have not experienced any vibrations as described. My DOT code is PVC abd the mfg. date is 4003. Is this across the board? I don't think I'd have missed it based on the descriptions posted.

Not everyone experiences the problem. Even people who know about the problem from reading this forum, and looking for it, don't feel the vibration. This is why Acura didn't make a recall or even a real TSB on this issue, and it is done on a selective basis for those who complain (loud enough).
It could be that certain batches cause the problem, or maybe a different assembly line, different molds, different mixing, etc, so if you don't have a problem consider yourself fortunate.

Damn EL42s
I bought my TL in October 2003 and didn't notice the problem until about 2500 miles.
I contacted Acura three times and they finally agreed to evaluate my tire issue at the local (Ventura, CA) Acura dealer.
As I was just about to drive down for the evaluation, my salesman called and said to hold off. He may be able to save me one of the two requisite trips. Also, he was going to try to get Acura to replace the tires with my choice -- the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires. I also found a highly rated Bridgestone tire, the Potenza RE950.
In the last few days, I talked with the Gold Coast Acura service advisor who said my replacement tires are due any day. I reitereated my concern about having the same tires put back on the car and he said Acura wouldn't supply anything but newer EL42s.
I asked if I could just take the new tires (without installation) and try to trade them in on the Michelins. He kindly suggested that he would look around to see if he could work a deal with the tire dealers around Ventura.
I am waiting to see what he can work out.
