Tint Shops that tint entire rear quarter window? (MD/DC/VA Area)

Does anyone know of any tint shops in the Washington Metropolitan Area that will tint the entire rear quarter windows? I heard alot of good things about LA Tint, but not sure whether they'll tint the entire qtr windows. Also, I really hate the look of cutting an area in the tints to accomodate the third brake light...looks really awful! If anyone knows of any tint shops in the MD/DC/VA area that will cover my two concerns please let me know.

Here's a pic I found on this forum where this person had the entire rear quarter windows tinted...looks really nice!

Laurence - Ceramic 3M - $299!!

They hooked my ride up just last week! And you know how much I love my ride! I will post pics soon, but yes, the entire rear 1/4 covered...no mistakes allowed! Plus, the price is on point for Ceramic 3M!!

Don't say I never gave you nothing!

SteveP66 05-21-2007 07:15 PM

How do they cover the entire 1/4?

Do they have to remove it? (thinking mine are going to be done this summer - I want to be able to tell them how to do it if asked)

Call that number and act like a local perspective customer! Tell them that is a concern of yours, but that if they can accomodate you, you will get it done!

Check out the list of cars that came at the same time I did:

Lexus LS430
CL55 AMG
Porsche

All of them were hooked up! Me too, of course! I will do my thread in the next day or so. Gotta hit the gf house tonight! You know how I do! Hold up...before I go, Imma give Triny a lil taste so he know it's all good...

I'm planning to go by LA tomorrow to ask your very questions and make sure that they see what I'm talking about. If all works out as planned, I'll post the results after my visit.

Dark gave me the same info before, but it's kinda hard for me to cross back to the other side of the "P" and have enough time to get the work done. But if I don't get the answers I want from LA, I guess I gotta do what I gotta do.

Dark, your TL is "Poppin". Even in the dark it looks tight!

Thanks for the info man!

Hey, I'll take your advice if you can show me a clearer pic of your ride w/ the qtr rear windows completed tinted. A lil taste won't do it for me :-) Also, what did they do about the third brake light? Did they cut out a section for it or did they remove it and tinted the entire back window with one sheet? (I prefer the latter) I'll wait for you to start your own thread with pics.

Thanks for the props Anansi! They really did a good job man! I was speechless and what not! Didn't take them long either! I was lookin at Smokin' Aces on my laptop, anticipating a long run, and next thing I know, I was done! I was like dammmnnn!

Good luck at LA Tint. I thought I priced them before and they were like $325 for the same tint job. Is that true? I can't remember if I asked them about the 1/4 at LA before though.

Anansi, (or anybody) no need to hit the Woodrow, just go 66 (or Leesburg Pike Anansi) to 495 to 270 to exit #5 or 6, go left on Rockville Pike, right on East Gude Dr, right on Southlawn, quick left onto Loftstrand, and tell Laurence the guy in the nice Black TL with the modded grille they just did last week (as a birthday gift from his gf), sent ya! They'll know who you mean! LOL!

Damn man! You would almost think you actually work there :-) You must really love the tint job! Alright, now I'm definitely taking my car there. If you're so pleased, then I couldn't go wrong taking it there.

Ok, but the 1/4 is definitely like I said, as it was my chief concern. No lines showing at all. TOTALLY BLACKED OUT! I don't know about the brake light. Just on instinct Imma say no, it is cut around. I didn't ask them for that and when I just went back out, it was way too dark to see my ride. That will prob be tomorrow on the thread!

Come on now, we got NAV, we wouldn't us Woodrow! Plus, I'm from that side of the river anyway up in Columbia. If they're as fast as you say, I may just have to tip out of the office for a "meeting" one day and get the work done.

I was thinkin you were getting a kickback from the cost of your work for everybody you send, but you didn't pay for this in the first place. Hmmm, exactly what are you getting out of this?......and does your gf know?

Yo Dark, one more question, did they do Moleskin for ya?

LOL! Nah, no kickback! I just hate seeing shitty looking tint jobs, and our cars are supposed to be good-looking when we roll out! So I'm just looking out for my area code and letting ya'll know! Plus, if somebody does good work for me, I have no problem putting their name out there. But if they suck...expect the reverse as well!!

Moleskin...sounds like something I would have to request and I didn't. So no moleskin I am going to assume. I will check with them to see why or why not about using it.

Okay, here's the deal. I never made it to LA today to find out if they did the 1/4 window. But in light of all of Dark's glowing reviews and endorsements, I went ahead and made an appointment with Lawrence cause I want my stuff done! Ima roll up on Thursday and get myself hooked up. (I figure it's a good excuse to roll the new ride).

Oh, and I did ask about moleskin. They don't do it, but do give a lifetime warranty for about everything except fines from 5-0 for running too dark for your state.

TriniBwoy, if I get mine done b4 u, I'll give you a second review.

lRageATMl 05-23-2007 09:27 AM

so the consenus is winners? any ever use Zieberts in Fairfax?

Winners do an okay job on my 2003 Mustang Cobra... but okay at best. There used to be a place in college park that did an awesome job (corner of cherry hill and route 1) but I can't remember the name of the place and now I live in Nova :(

darksom1 05-23-2007 09:33 AM

^ Maybe they had a different crew then. I don't know. But they didn't just do a good job on my car, but those other cars I mentioned as well. Here is the link to my new thread where you can see my tint job as well:

Did they do a good job on your rear quarter window? Did you get moleskin?

theklassic 05-23-2007 02:06 PM

Just got mine redone - originally had it done at LA Tint, but they didn't do the rear quarters fully.

I can post up some pics later.

Call Art @ 301.838.0333 for a quote.

Guys,

BTW, I'm not sure if the mods allow this, but the shop I dropped mention above is actually mine (along with a few partners of different car talents.) So if you guys are shopping around for a quality tint place, I can call Art ahead of time and set you up with a great price.

We use the same film as Winner's and it's all computer cut with a lifetime warranty - all the same. Art actually worked first at National, and later at Winner's (probably tinted your cars if you took it there in the previous 3 years) - but now he's managing the tint work at Driven.

Drop me a line to find out more. (Hope I don't get scolded for plugging myself, eh?) :tomato:

HP Racing in Glen Burnie, MD will actually provide warranty if you get caught for illegal tint. Not sure about the full quarters though but they did a nice job on my friends 04 Accord V6 EX-L 6spd.

Anansi 05-24-2007 03:19 PM

I got mine done today at Winners. I don't have my camera with me, but hopefully I'll get some tomorrow. No moleskin, but I can do that later, but they did do a good job on the rear 1/4 window.

Due to Darksom1 almost impeccable reviews, I already made up my mind that I was going to have them work on my car, but I surely don't mind the reassurance  I'm not exactly sure when I'm going to take mine in though.

Did you ask them how they were able to completely tint the rear qtr windows? Also, did they cut out a portion for the third brake light? I look forward to seeing your pics.

You might just be in luck actually. I talked to Laurence and he said that they are going to a car show in Frederick in the next couple of weeks (if I remember correctly) and they are going to offer discounts in association with the show. If you call to make an appointment, make sure to ask them about that.

I didn't ask how they did the rear 1/4 window, but they did it. And no, they didn't cut out the 3rd brake light. They removed it and tinted the entire window, but it is still clearly visible through the tint. I went with 35% all around, may be a risk in the commonwealth, but I haven't heard of anyone having a problem. I really like the look it gives the car. I just didn't want the contrast of the 50/35 that VA allows.

As soon as I can dig out a camera, I'll take a couple of daylight photos for you.

Anansi 05-24-2007 04:32 PM

Okay, I borrowed a coworkers camera phone and took some pictures. They aren't the greatest and the car isn't as clean as a certain "someone's" but here they are none the less. The rear window looks a little "creamy" right now, but it should clear up in a couple of days.

I'm not knocking any other shops, but I know I picked a "winner", excuse the pun!

Here are some more pics to help you out Trini (Anansi is right, they removed the rear brake light but you can clearly see it still):

Now...if that don't make you want to go out and get it tinted with a "winner", then I don't know what will! But you are right Trini...damn if they don't owe me something huh? I'm working hard! LOL! Nah, I just love a nice looking car, so if people...blah, blah, blah...

leedogg 05-24-2007 07:52 PM

Differences between my tint and Dark's-

I went to LA Tint in mannassas, they used F1 Pinnacle ceramic film there which I now really like, and they applied the tint around the rear brake light, which I also like. Very professional job.

should be pretty similar. Is yours 35% like mine? Mine seems a tad darker than yours, but it could be the lighting...

Nah, mine is 20%. I always try to get under as much light as possible, because I have my ride blacked out pretty good and the pics will look too dark to make out the features I'm showing (i.e. the lines in the tint job, or actually the lack thereof). I have shots where you can't see inside in regular lighting, like not under a streetlight. But I have seen differences in types of film used as far as darkness of the tint. I just didn't know if Pinnacle and the 3M were in that group.

leedogg 05-24-2007 11:29 PM

Yeah, its pobably the lighting, I cant believe my 35% would be darker, would be nice to compare them in person someday

He mentioned that the discount was about tint, but you (and espeically you) may be able to work out a discount. I told Laurence that I heard about him from the forum and specifically how you were singing his praises. After I told him that he said that he was going to come here and offer something on the forum.

Since you're the one who got him at least another deal or two, I'd give him a hollar and see what he can do for you.

On another note. Stop posting those SICK pictures of your car. I saw your post last night, then went to the garage and looked at mine and it seemed to be saying "You don't take care of me like Dark takes care of his :bawling: ". All I could do at that late hour was get out the California "whatever" brush. But I promised her that I'd give her a nice slow bath tomorrow. :)

Just made my appointment at Winners in their Annapolis branch.
Darksom1 - Thanks for the price and name. Their normal charge for the 3m is $350 now but i told him about your post with lawerence and the $299 price and they honored it. Its getting installed next week on my 2007 NBP Type-S. Thanks for the info. I am not happy with my current tint and i am getting it replaced. Look forward to seeing their work in person.

Darksom1 bows...

Man, that looks good! See, that's the reason why I told you guys about Winners! Because I hate seeing a car like ours with a crappy tint job! I can't have you representing "NBP" with a crappy tint job! LOL!

A little love makes that NBP look good huh Anansi? You know, I vaguely remember this old story about a spider named Anansi. Hmm...Hey, since you use "Anansi", why not Nancy for her name? :tomato:
