Tint: 35% or 50%?
I'm getting Forumla One tints for the rear and back windows in a few days, but me and the wife aren't sure whether to go with 50% or 35% (we're doing 70% UV on the fronts to keep it legal for CA). We're mainly getting this to protect the leather against UV but also to reduce the heat. However, we don't want something hard to see out of at night.
So for those of you who have 50% or 35% the question is: are you satisfied or do you wish you'd gotten the other, based on nighttime visibility?

I got 50 in the fronts, and 15 in the backs...
I say the 50 is almost invisible from the inside of the car, so no problem with night time vision. But I can also see through the 15 at night, as long as we're talking traffic...in a dark driveway it can be impossible to see behind the car in the dark.

Go with 35% it'll be your best bet. If you have 50% it won't block out the light as much and you won't tell any difference from the looks of your car as well. 35% is dark enough to block out the sun during the day and at night it won't be as hard to see.

My wife was worried that 35% would be too dark. 35% is the legal Max for NC. We got the 35% and now she say's we should have got 20's (and while I agree, that'd be a real hassle for the annual inspections).
IOW - get the 35%, you'll love 'em.

Bear - you seem to know about this stuff from what I've been reading........
What about 50% on top on the regular OEM 25%.......one of the places I've talked to said it would bring me to 60%.
This tint stuff is confusing enough

SteveP, thanks, but I am NOT an expert. I've just read enough to look like a total F'n idiot if I get in over my head.
My advice is get as much tint as your local laws allow, down to about 20%. Any reputable tinter in your area should be able to give you good, practical advice on how far you can go legally and/or without being hassled by the local cops.
Here we have annual inspections and part of that includes measurement of tinted windows. Since out law is 35% on passenger cars (with a pass down to 32%), I went with the 35%.
